Everyone here seems unhappy?

Hi Shadowman

Not completely sure about some of your questions, but I suspect the blurring of images might be related to you using the app.... if you log into the website, go to settings and allow ASFW, then you will see more of the content unblurred.  The app is monitored by App Store and Play Store so starts with SFW (safe for work) settings.  The Kink Academy Forum is screened to be SFW to comply with App Store and Play Store.  There is also automatic censoring of some words across the app, which is being worked on.  However in forums other than Kink Academy it is not as censored.  And the BDSM Stories aren't apart from the things referred to in the Code of Conduct.

Ask away if there's anything else.

I'm on the app and see nudity 😆🤣 ifk if I changed some setting or something but if it was because of the app then ide have the same problem right??

once you've been on the website once you can see all the forums, and if you'd clicked on allow ASFW in the website, you'd then be able to see more in the app forevermore!

The site/app/etc isn't the whole kink community. It is an element parallel to it.

As this site is more dating-based a lot of people are specifically looking for someone and in a lot of cases if they find someone, they no longer need to remain here - and so a lot of people who are active here are folk who have not found someone, some who have been here a long time.  Perhaps that effects the mood.

Ironically, despite my longevity and post count I am neither single nor unhappy. And I know there are others in a similar boat, enjoying it as an extension of the community and what they do.   But sometimes those unhappy shout the loudest.

Shit is irritating. The inactive or very low reply ratio accounts are the worst. What's the damn point of even being on here?
I feel like if you want to see actual kink, head over to FetLife. The members here seem to be pretty much vanilla compared to the wider kink community. I see a lot of nudity and risque photos here, but very little kink. And with the sheer number of profiles that I see "no limits" in their limits section, it's clear that they have no experience in kink.
It is not the ASFW settings. The site is the most censored, nannying and overmoderatored I have ever seen in my life. Even though it is even called fetish.com there are vanillas with totally straight profiles and people here just for straight relationships and NSA hookups for sex. My inbox is full of dudes just wanting sex, mostly inexperienced and on the other side of the world, didn't read my profile at all. So yeah we are a minority in what us meant to be our 'own' site but even voicing very much gets you censored and deleted. It is a micro view of society as writ large in the UK where this has become normal. I feel this is not coincidental.

Well, I would dispute that.  We moderate, not censor.  We make sure threads are on topic etc  However, if you have a specific example, It may help to use it to explain why it wasn't allowed.

I hear that

It's funny you say that, I found a lot of people without safewords here too, I find that part of it a little wild. To me the whole point is keeping someone safe even though you're taking them to the edge. I mean that's literally the whole point. So yeah I agree on that note.

I noticed a lot of that too. And again it's nice to have a place, but people need to be able to express themselves in kink if kink is what the platform offers. I wanna be excited ya know? Not just browsing like this was tinder.

I feel this. Most ppl I’m interested in just want sex. Some just apply themselves a little more than others but especially for “Doms” it’s just been uncompromising men who want a woman to blindly follow them. I have a few good conversations and everyone is different but I don’t feel they are truly Doms just demanding men who use “Dom” because there sex drive is high. My experience hasn’t been much different from traditional dating sites of just ppl looking for hook ups frequently. They assume because you have a fetish your a “freak” and dtf.

You know what would be really great? If the humans would stop ruining things for others so that things like SAFETY FROM TRAUMA just scrolling at a screen wasn't near unheard of nor given the credence that deserves.
Don't know what to tell ya. Most of what I see is people looking for hookups, validation through comments and likes on their naughty pics, and using it as a place for their poetry and dirty stories.
.
As for it feeling like a swarm of newbies. Seems to me that, although there are probably some new kinksters, the majority are attention seekers. "I'm not your average $lut because I'm kinky;" energy. Feels like Instagram or Tiktok. Kink is becoming mainstream and becoming increasingly diluted. Although it's nice for our community to be more accepted, it has made us a hotspot for vanilla tourists and OF fakers.
.
Can't imagine anybody actually finding a meaningful relationship through this site.
A bunch of fake doms who want respect and honorifics before they're earned 🙅‍♀️ being rude and disrespectful before limits are even discussed or agreed upon.
I know, understand what your saying.

I've been with 2 ladies from this site and on different occasions.

The things I told them I would do.

I was successful in the second, and the 1st by god we gave it the go but it was me.

I use the one that I couldn't be my new to make up for.

Growth in failure, its greatly beneficial.
I'm willing to bet it has a lot to do with the guidelines of apple and android as far as what is allowed in the app, otherwise they won't host it in the app store. That's why FL got removed from the app store long ago.

I'm gonna bring up my old grumble

In the olden days, the site didn't have an app.  People would constantly ask for one.  They put one out. And it really was a careful what you wish for.

The site changed. Rapidly.  So to be on the app store and play store there had to be a lot of restrictions and moderation on what could be permitted.   But also being on the store meant it was being recommended to others and it quickly hit number 1 in the download charts.   But it was hitting a lot of people who thought it was just another standard dating/sex/hook-up, as well as those who felt kink=easy and a lot of the dynamic shifted.  It was a major driver in the interest of, ahem "fakes and scammers" also.

The app has also been banned/restricted a couple of times which has then led to appeals and more changes.

But also the genie is kinda out the bottle now - and I think someone crunching numbers does have a bit where they are "on balance this was worth it"

Add in - for those who work on the site voluntarily (or, paid staff) their workload shot up but there wasn't extra recruitment to balance this.

Imo the problem is that kinks got commercialised too hard. Most dom women my age are using this site to sell themselves, exploit the community for *** and barely any „real“ kinksters that actually wanna meet up and do things or get to know people remain.

Hopefully I don't get the moderated for saying this it seems like you can't even look one degree off from the topic without getting a warning but I think all online dating has gotten really skewed

So I know that's not related to app and keeping stores sweet.  But I suspect a little between SEO and general netiquette.  This said... I guess it often depends on the context.

You're pointing out the atrocities of capitalism, consumerism, and NOT blaming women, Dommes, or pros, right?!
