Advice for building a custom bed frame

Recommended Posts

Curious to get any out any advice regarding building a custom bed frame for Kink Activities.
Make it out of metal with tie down point for rope or other material to tie your partner up make sure it doesn’t squeak and has at least ten inches off the ground so you can put all your toys and gear under your bed
Oh yea I want a build one so I can have the tie offs whare they work best for me and draws for my toys😘
Just buy a decent solid wood one and add any extras to it
I need one with drawers and will fit my adjustable frame

I kinda want to build it myself or with some help

Out of wood or metal? Both will require a lot of tools and skill. I would also adapt some well crafted antique bed and fit it to my needs. Remember 2” wide Velcro can hold up to 200lbs and it’s readily available in Home Depot. If you can’t curl over 200 lbs you’ll be secure.

Depends what kink activities. If you want an all or nothing approach. Think 6x6 wood supports and metal crossbars for climbing, hanging, and tie points. That will give you the support for everything i can think. After that just build a normal bed frame on it 😇
Alter ego and some other companies have some that may work for ideas ..
Check out the bdsmdiy subreddit for inspiration. There are some excellent examples there.
Could make some D-ring drawer handles—as decorative/covert attachment points.
What kind of wood working experience do you have? Depending on that there may be diy plans available
I’ve attached boat cleats (Home Depot or Amazon) around my solid wooden furniture in the past. Easy tying, adjustment and release (safety). And they can be hidden underneath for discretion.
I had to rein*** my bed frame with 2x12 boards since I kept breaking the slats on a very solid 4 post bed.
My bed is built like a deck, 4x4 and 2x6.. But with a twist.. The head/foot boards are ½" black pipe (gas line) with floor flanges.. It's great for restraining, getting your footing, and getting a grip.
Build it sturdy!!! Mine is basically a deck frame on 4x4 posts, also I customized the height so when I stand next to it the top is exactly the right height for me. I also highly recommend anchoring the head of the bed to the wall some how, it's really annoying when things are just getting good and being distracted by the rythmic thumping of your bed hitting the wall. Also get creative it your bed and your building it. One last note, I originally just had a couple sheets of plywood for the mattress to be on, I recommend using slats instead so the mattress can air out when it needs to. And now that I continue to re read this I know I belong here🤣
