Can the tech staff STOP closing threads unilaterally when they "think"the subject is closed?

Recommended Posts

It's annoying.
It's disrespectful towards the person who opened the thread.
I noticed it often happens when there's an embarrassing problem (for the tech staff)

Closing threads won't make people shut up... Or solve the problems.
It just makes this place feel like a dictatorship.

Hi @PeggableFucker, thx for your statement.

We understand that it can be frustrating when threads are closed. In fact, we review each case individually and only intervene when a discussion either:

  • is at risk of escalating (e.g. due to personal attacks),
  • starts heading in a direction that repeatedly leads to escalation and/or drifts so far from the original topic that redirecting it no longer makes sense,
  • or requires a public statement from the Community Management team that isn’t meant to be debated – as in this case, where it concerns general decisions about moderation behavior.

It’s important to us that all members can engage in constructive discussion, but also that the platform isn’t derailed by repeated conflicts or indirect hostility. When threads are closed, it’s not to silence criticism, but to maintain a respectful and focused environment in line with our community guidelines.

Thanks for your understanding.

Greetings, Carmen - FET Team
