I know what you mean about feeling real. One of the best, most convincing scammers I've met, posed as an artist, and I would have loved to have one (or more) of her ***tings on my wall. There actually weren't any warning signs, week after week, until she'd been in South Africa (supposedly) for a week or two to visit her mum who might have been dying...

...and she needs *** to fly back, because she left on a one-way ticket.

She could have sold her ***tings to pay off a credit card plane ticket, and I would have leant her that *** if we'd ever met in person (or bought a ***ting or two, as not-a-loan).

But who flies overseas on a one-way ticket, without the *** to get back home?

(The most engaging scammer I've met, shamefully, was copying and pasting from an AI chatbot. And accidentally leaving some of the "for the scene you requested" type metacontext in. More than once. Damn I wish she'd been real...but once they work out how to pay attention, and omit the give-aways, they'll be dangerous!)
