Opinions on Romantic Media?

Recommended Posts

What are yall's thoughts on the romantic media that surrounds us? Is it something that appeals to you even if it's mainstream? Have you been able to find anything that you find attractive as a femdom or a malesub?

On my end, i'm infinitely thankful for my fdom asmr's they help me sleep and as pathetic as ot sounds, it makes me feel less lonely. But I do wish more fdom/msub relationships showed up more in movies, books, music, etc.

I'd like to know what yall think, cheers friends.

Interesting topic.
There's almost no romantic media centered in femdom, although it could be argued that the typical dark romance stories have some elements of it.
I generally don't like romantic stories because most of them are poorly written, but if they're good I'm down for it.

Im glad you find the discussion intetesting.

I agree. There is almost no media about it and It dissapoints me more often than i'd care to admit. I feel that "dark romance" stories being the rule and not the exception makes it all the more disheartening. While a cool conquoring villianess *is* attractive, it does leave behinf a stigma. Much less a stagnation in variety.

Even on the more nerdier side. I'd love to read fanfiction of my favorite characters in comics or videogames experimenting with a relationship like that. But a majority of the fans arent interested enough to put out any drawings or stories about it.

Oh well, what can ya do.

Im sure there's some female author who finds the scene attractive and has written about it. Ill have to keep my eyes ***led for it until then XD

Have you ever encountered a fictional female character that has excited your imagination?

I always think of Sindel (Mortal Kombat) šŸ˜‚

Hmmm, there has been pleanty.
There are absolutely staple holleywood monsters that when interpreted to the female gender has always been appealing. Like vampires, warewolves, etc. But these are less characters with personalities, goals, and desires and more like characatures.

A tragedy in that is that most proper characters I know are tweaked by my romantisization of them. Primarily due to either them not truly being dominant or them being dominant solely to appeal to the male gaze.

To that end, If I could make (albeit an extremely nerdy) list it would be

- The Adaptus Saroritus: Warhammer
- Juri Han: Street Fighter
- Karlach: Baldurs Gate III
- Ada Wong: Resident Evil
- Revy: Black Lagoon
- Makima: Chainsawman
- Samas Aran: Metroid
- Emma Frost: X-men
- Black Cat: Spider-Man

What about you? Any dominant women that you can relate to in any way? Maybe characters you can see yourself in? Or submissive men that you find attractive in media?

Sindel's a good one! Cool Queen lady, powerful voice (so powerful it could rip your skin off lol) she's awesome

Sindel just goes full dominatrix šŸ˜‚
If we're talking about more complex characters, I like the vibe of some of the femme fatales like Gilda or Carmen (opera). And also the women involved in criminal activity, like Lydia Rodarte-Quayle or Teresa Mendoza.
For submissive men, Gomez Addams šŸ™‚

I recently read ā€œLessons in Chemistryā€. It's not purely a romance novel, but rather the story of a strong, independent woman going through a difficult time (in the 1950s/1960s). I love the love story in it. It's not a femdom story. Nevertheless, the protagonist (Elisabeth Zott) is a goddess to me. She is gentle, caring, and endures a lot. She is very strong, intelligent, and would never submit to a man. She is not a villain. To me, she seems like a real person because of the great writing. She empowers other women, has good and bad times (so she's not one-dimensional), and knows her worth. I think she is at least crush material and would be a great character for a romantic femdom story. I haven't seen the show, so I don't know how good it is compared to the book.

Also, in many fantasy/romantasy books, the female protagonists are quite dominant and could fit well into such D/S dynamics. However, they are often morally grey and the male love interests are not submissive. But I still like the trope ā€œhe falls first and harderā€ in this regard. I also like some reverse harem series where the men worship the woman in their midst (at least at some point, sometimes sooner, sometimes later). And I love the ā€œthe folk of the airā€series. It's an enemies-to-lovers story (not purely romance, YA), once again with a morally ambiguous protagonist, but it also has femdom aspects.
