As someone who cannot see sex as a gift for either party I tend to do functionality based equivalents. Flowers=herbs (one of mine loves a good steak so I’ll often get him small herb plants to cook with plus while they’re growing he’s so proud of himself) if it’s just about the gesture it’s okay to just ask a few questions to find something he enjoys. For one of my others they’re a bit more femme so flowers are perfectly acceptable that may be the case for yours as well. I think most people are just happy with some clear effort.
