I have a friend who loves to be blind folded and slapped across the face. It excites her to not know when or how it’s coming. Why is this so exciting to some ?

To simplify the explanation. The mind enters an excitory state when made it wait in anticipation of this. For example, people love watching horror films for the jump scares. It's the same mechanism of action, just used in a different manner.

Adding a blindfold to the situation increases sensitivity due to removing a sense, allowing the person to focus on their others. It also means, as they cannot pick up on any of the visual cues that the slap is coming, they cannot tense up waiting for it, and therefore are caught more off guard, causing more excitement.

Using the horror film example it would he the difference between watching a film for the first time and not knowing where the jump scares are coming vs re watching it and knowing where the jump scares happen.

Honestly, there are probably as many different reasons why a person might like face slapping as there are people who like it. The specifics vary a lot from person to person, as is true about a lot of things, kink and otherwise.
