Rope Jams and Workshops

I'm planning a rope jam/rope class before the year is up. Any tips on making it successful and educational?

If you want success make it both fun and educational, include people in the demonstrations and if you have enough people try not to use the same person twice. Few people pay close attention to a class they don’t have fun in 🙂‍↕️

Get a variety of people to demo/practice with. POC, people of different sizes, people with disabilities. It’s all doable with rope.

yep, so you definitely need lots of rope (encourage people to bring their own, but bring enough people can possibly buy from you to take home)

and depending on the venue, possibly things like padding or gym mats for folk who are on the ground a lot 

you ideally need an experienced bunny who is assiting you

and of course a space which is large, where you can keep eye contact with the whole room, and has facilities for tea/coffee/snacks afterwards 

ideally you don't want background music as people need to be able to hear you and each other 

I guess also any books or hand outs you can share is also helpful

encourage people to come with a partner, but offer a system where people can partner up - but of course empathise that partner-ing up is for two people who are solo regardless of sex/gender/interest - they're learning to tie, not date

don't forget if you are running something like this you need public liability insurance.

I was worried about the insurance. It's mostly going to be between friends at my apartment at first until I get all of the logistics sorted out. Thank you!

But yes in terms of rope, I have 25 bundles of 50 ft, so 5 people can do a 3-rope TK with enough left over for a hogtie or futomomol

you may end up with something bespoke. Adultsure specialise in adult industry (which this would come under) although there are some high street insurers would cover

it is probably worth getting ballpark quotes - also working with prospective venues to see if they have cover which covers you, or what level of cover they'd need you to have

Low attendance and low frequency events are often deemed lower risk, £15-£30 a month

Don’t forget to put out water and snacks!! ^^ last rope jam I went to was a nominal hit with the charcuterie for the subs (though the riggers certainly dipped into the Brie too)
