To play the treasure hunt you will need to hunt for the icons which are hidden around the FET universe in different features on the platform.

On the app the icons are a circle shape and have a small image inside them and they are overlapped on the screen. On the website V1 they are square in shape, on V2 they are also a circle shape. You can use the clues in this thread that will hint you where to look or you can hunt for them by just having a gander around the platform of your choice. Once you find the icon, tap on it and it will collect in your treasure chest and you will earn points towards membership. If you would like some further help, you are welcome to drop me a line and I can give you an example via screenshot. I have also gifted you, your first icon to get you started.

Honestly I've gotten several of those things and still really don't have a clue on just how.

I've yet to understand just what good are they to find also. I know you get penalized for sharing them with someone who has found non or at least I did

For each icon you find, you earn points towards membership upgrade.  You should not be receiving any penalities for sharing icons. If you did get penalised it maybe for something unrelated but that is something you would need to chase up with the support team via the help menu as to what the penalty was for.  You can share the icons you have found with those who have none;  It's a nice way to meet others who may reach out to say thank you. Its also one of the criteria's for being in the running to win the treasure hunt as per the extract from the OP that I have posted below. 

If you do share an icon, your points are also gifted away, so its always worth going back to where you originally found them and recollecting to get your points back.  As for how you found them, you would have tapped on the icon as you were going through and looking at various features of the site.  You may have inadvertantly tapped on them without realising.  On the app, the icons are a small circle image overlayed on the screen with a small picture contained within, on the website V1 they are a square shape and on the website V2 they are also a circle shape.  If you would like further help, feel free to send me a dm.
