Submission Is Earned, Too: A Warning About Men Who Call Themselves Doms

Recommended Posts

You are completely right, this does go for some female Dommes as well, it is far too easy to set yourself up on these websites with little or no real experience, but have learnt the talk. In in some way learnt the walk. Both sides in a DS relationship need to be discussed and earned.

I agree with you that the word domis an excuse sometimes I’ve seen to be abusive or for narcissist to take advantage. Although your message is very long. I work in mental health and sadly I’ve seen lots of news around the word Dom that’s why I tell people be safe.

This should be mandatory reading.

Real dominance isn’t a title or an aesthetic… it’s the capacity to lead, hold space, and stay curious about the person trusting you with their power.

A title without consistent stewardship is just entitlement. Well said, Val.

Loved reading this! A lot of it resonated with me! Also I think another interesting take is that I think dominance is earned too - or rather it should be. Someone I dommed told me that once, and I had never heard someone say that before.

People are too deep when it comes to D/s. Respect, understanding eachother boundaries, communication about what eachother wants, and understanding dominance is earned just the same submission

I'm definitely having my submissive read this. Very well said and definitely something that everyone experienced or new can learn from! Thank you for sharing this! ❤️

I’d have to say that the minute I stop feeling comfortable enough to be myself around someone, that’s an indication that I need to take a step back and consider if being asked to perform in a role that prioritizes the other person’s level of comfort or happiness over my own.

I almost cried reading this! Thank you for putting into words EXACTLY what I was feeling. I felt crazy for expecting more from a Dominant. Like the things I needed were always too much. 💜.

Newbie Dom here.
It is my understanding that one sign of a good dominant is that the submissive can reflect back and see how they have grown and been improved by the direction of the Dom.
Some Doms will hold back a sub in order to protect their supposed power over the sub, totally forgetting that that power is consensual. Empower your sub, strengthen and grow them in all things and they will continue to choose what works for them.
Am I wrong?

If you could I would like a copy of this, I have a few friends that need to read this and they truly need to.

Submission is a weakness 😅

Move along little minion. Any man with that mindset really doesn’t belong here.

You verbalize so well what so many of us are thinking -, or at least what I was thinking. Thanks for taking the time and commitment to write it. Well done!

"what works for her." You're right, it is a lot of work to be a good Dom and likewise to be a good submissive. I hope you find what you're looking for. It was worth the search for me and I bet it will be for you too. X

Omg babe, this is SO similar to what I wanted to post. Stay true to you before anything else, a real Dom will listen to what you made clear.

Submission is the strongest act, a real Dominant will value you and get you there. I walked away too, I went through intense first experiences without him checking in, conversations prior to and no aftercare.

I walked away too, go us xx

You know what's interesting about this line of reasoning is even when the woman is submissive in this case she still like not well I don't know how to describe she's still in charge, makes her submission seem like a game or a role play
