Ummm, I don't presume to always be a "nice" or respectful guy but I'd hope that most if not all of the intro messages I do send are (and if they aren't, there would have to be an exceptionally good reason for it) and I've had plenty of replies over the years. When I haven't it's often because the messages haven't even been opened or sometimes because the user has left the site - there isn't a lot which can be done about that, no blame to be apportioned there when inboxes sometimes have messages coming in far faster than can be replied to.

The reason I would always still keep sending a nice introduction regardless is because if I didn't then I would not, in fact, be a respectful guy, but a bit of a arse.
