In 2011 a study found that between 5-10% of vulva owners experienced anorgasmia at some point in their lives. Anorgasmia is the medical term for being unable to orgasm, and up to 80% of vulva owners can't orgasm from vaginal penetration alone.
Indeed, orgasms aren't always easy to achieve, but one way to increase your chance of them is to try masturbation and self-pleasure to find out what really gets you off. Once you have conquered this first step you will be on your way to finding out how to have multiple orgasms.
Some of us may think multiple orgasms are a myth, but, believe me, they exist! Multiple orgasms are something that people of all genders can enjoy. Usually, having multiple orgasms refers to having more than one orgasm during one sexual sitting. While they can happen in quick succession, one after the other, after the other (if you are particularly lucky!), they can also be spaced out, with the person remaining aroused in between.
Blow your mind: discover how to have multiple orgasms
It's thought that those of us vulva owners can have up to five orgasms in a row. Indeed, most women are thought to have the capacity to have multiple orgasms, but past research suggests that only up to 15% actually do. So, why is that and what can be done to improve those statistics?
Before learning how to achieve a multiple orgasm, we need to learn how to practise self-love properly. You should never feel shame for masturbation – it's an act of self-care. Really make time for masturbation and to enjoy it thoroughly (rather than a quick flick).
Perhaps start with a shower or relaxing bath and put on your favorite body lotion or wear lingerie that makes you feel sexy. It's all about finding what works best for you. Try out different female masturbation techniques and positions to find out what really makes you horny.

Concentrate on your pleasure for now. Don't worry if you don't achieve an orgasm. Just take note of what really turns you on and the bodily sensations. Take your time and don't get upset if you don't come. Stressing over what you need to do to have an orgasm won't help in the hunt for pleasure!
When you do find out what gets you off, keep practising it. The more you masturbate, the more comfortable you become with your own body and its turn-ons, the more likely you'll be able to achieve multiple orgasms in the future. Remember, there are many ways to cum, and you might feel different types of orgasms at other parts of your menstrual cycle, or it might depend on which part of your body is being stimulated.
There is no one-trick or tried and tested way to guarantee multiple orgasms. That's because we are all unique, and our lovely vulvas all respond differently to varieties of stimulation. However, that means you have lots of fun things to try out in your quest for having more orgasms.
If you're a clitoral stimulation fan, join the club; most vulva owners need clitoral stimulation to come. However, this is not the only way to achieve multiple orgasms. Here are a few other ideas:
Inside the vagina, along the top around an inch or so, is a little bump that swells with arousal and feels good – this is actually the other end of the clitoris. It's a beautiful wishbone shape, and some people find that stimulation of this area results in powerful orgasms. Others find it orgasmic but not strongly, yet more people don't respond at all. It's worth trying, though, and there are many G-spot stimulator sex toys out there. However, a come hither motion with fingers can do the trick too.

The pelvic floor muscles play a key role in orgasms. If you can contract and release your pelvic floor muscles you may be able to achieve multiple orgasms. But how to contract them? Think about drawing your vaginal opening up your body, towards your belly area.
“Before learning how to achieve multiple orgasms, we need to learn how to practise self-love properly. You should never feel shame for masturbation.”
Then, during orgasm, squeeze these muscles during each contraction of your orgasm. Some vulva owners find that doing this can prolong the big 'o' or even produce multiple orgasms.
While this tip might seem counterintuitive at first, building towards orgasm and then stopping just before it hits – so-called edging – can make the resulting orgasm powerful when you finally allow it to come. Edging may also increase your chances of having multiple orgasms. So, denying yourself an orgasm at first may pay off in dividends!

The last thing you might want to do is push on after an orgasm, but trying other stimulation and continuing past your own comfort zone may lead to more orgasms than you might typically have; it might even feel like torture. Those of a sadomasochistic bent might enjoy this.
It’s commonly thought that those of us with a penis are unable to have multiple orgasms due to the so-called 'refractory period'. After ejaculation, men's bodies usually experience a period of rest whereby they do not become sexually aroused again. However, some men’s refractory periods are short – only a few minutes. But for others, the recovery time can be much longer.
Although not something every vulva owner can do, squirting is basically female ejaculation. It's often debated what the fluid squirted is, but it's never just pee. It can be diluted urine or ejaculate from the skene gland, or a mixture of both.
Multiple orgasms and squirting are not always easy to achieve. Indeed, for some of us vulva-owners, learning how to have a multiple orgasm might seem an impossible task when we often fail to even have one! But by following my self-pleasure tips above you should be on the way to learning more about what really makes you cum.
