Kinky Dating | FabSwingers Review  

While being an alternative site aimed directly at the swinging community, FabSwingers is pretty popular. But, how does FabSwingers work though - and can you find swingers who share your particular fetishes and interests? In serving our vision to be the most trusted BDSM and Fetish community, we asked writer Sarah Black to look into FabSwingers and the FabSwinger app for us.
 

FabSwingers Overview

If you and your partner(s) are into swinging, www.FabSwingers.com might be just what you are looking for. It's quick and easy to set up a profile, and right away you'll have a list of other swingers in your immediate vicinity. It is totally free to set up an account with very few features being hidden behind the paywall. FabSwingers knows its audience is there to meet up in person ASAP, so they facilitate that kind of interaction.
 

Most of the site's focus is on their FabSwinger UK site, but there are also members across the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Many of the locations look a bit bare compared to the FabSwinger UK side though, so you will probably have better luck if you are in the UK.
 

FabSwingers Navigation and User Experience

Going around, FabSwingers feels like you've entered an Internet time machine. It's not necessarily poorly designed or difficult to use; everything just looks like it was developed in the early 2000s. Some of the pages offer too many options, which makes it a bit confusing to navigate. If you are at least a little bit Internet savvy though, it shouldn't be too difficult.

FabSwinger App

The FabSwingers app (non-native and downloadable from the FabSwingers website) does make it easy to search for and talk to other members. In the middle of a weekday afternoon as I write this, the FabSwinger app tells me there are more than 27,000 members currently online and just shy of 700 in the chat room. Do I believe these numbers?  No.
 

Doing some quick math, with 22 different chat room options on the FabSwinger app (most of which are on the FabSwinger UK side), there are less than 300 online members. There do seem to be a lot of currently online members, but 27,000 seems like a long shot. There were people online to talk to, but I am guessing FabSwingers embellishes the numbers a bit. 
 

FabSwingers Community Feel

FabSwingers is obviously geared towards people with swing as their main priority. It's kink/BDSM inclusive but only in minor ways. Every profile includes a list of "interests" that can help you find what you are looking for. Not everyone is kinky, but the majority of people have at least a few kinky tendencies. If there is something specific that you are looking for outside of swinging, you can search by terms such as fisting, role-play or voyeurism. The list, however, is not extensive and stays on the lighter side of kink.
 

If kink and BDSM are significant to you in a hookup, you might not always find what you are looking for on the FabSwinger app. If you are primarily looking to swing though and are fine with light BDSM, you can probably still find something.

As a woman, the biggest question I have for FabSwingers, a dating site that focuses specifically on swingers, is why are there so many profiles of single men? Looking at profiles, more than 80% of them are single men. Of which, at least half of them have a dick pic as their profile picture. Almost all of the images for couples, on the other hand, are just women in lingerie.

One nice option is that if you are on FabSwingers only for swinging, you can filter out messages from single men, so your inbox doesn't explode.
 

Is FabSwingers free to use?

The site is free to use has a few ads here and there, but they are rare and don't interfere with the user experience. If you want to get rid of the advertisements, you can give FabSwingers £5 for 50 days without ads.
 

What sets FabSwingers apart?

There are three main features on Fabswingers that set the site apart. First is a calendar of local events. There isn't a vast number, and many of them are once again geared for the FabSwinger UK audience, but it is nice that the event page exists.

The other interesting feature on FabSwingers is a chat room that is incredibly reminiscent of early 2000s AOL chat rooms. You can choose to just text (though just like with early chat rooms, it is nearly impossible to follow the conversation, and most of the posts are irrelevant nonsense), or you can go into video chat mode.
 

The chat rooms are split up almost entirely by location, so if you are looking for chat rooms on specific topics, you are out of luck. The free BDSM chat and forum on Fetish.com is much more geared towards people who prioritize their kink over flat out cybersex.

The third interesting feature on FabSwingers is the Meet Today section. If you know what you want and don't want to wait, this part of the site makes it easy to get right in there. You do have to be a member of FabSwingers for 72 hours before you can use the Meet Today and chat room features though. They do this to limit the number of spam accounts, which makes sense.
 

FabSwingers Review | Final thoughts

FabSwinger UK is great if your main interest is swinging in the United Kingdom. If you have other interests and priorities as well, though, FabSwingers might be a good secondary site in addition to your other online dating platforms.
