There are plenty of BDSM websites out there promising the perfect date for kinksters - but just how vanilla are they? In the spirit of serving our vision to be the most trusted BDSM and Fetish dating community, we review The Fetish Dating Club.

Editor's note: as of 3rd June 2019, it seems that The Fetish Dating Club is no longer in operation, but we've left our review published, below.

The Fetish Dating Club | Overview

With a very prominent zero commitment declaration, an insistence on ‘no rules’ and a that-book-and-film-we-won't-mention themed cover picture, The Fetish Dating Club is aimed squarely at a horny vanilla crowd who don’t intend to date before they get down and dirty.

The Fetish Dating Club thinks all kinksters are straight

The signup process is free and starts with you telling people a little about yourself – literally, one line - and then adding a photo, both are optional. Then you can complete the characteristics and interests section. The usual eye colour, hair and build questions are all there with a few about safe sex and positions chucked in. Interestingly, there is no option for lesbian, gay or bisexually orientated people.

At The Fetish Dating Club you’re either a ‘man looking for a woman’ or a ‘woman looking for a man’. It’s strange to exclude such a large section of our community, particularly as the site uses the rhetoric of alternative sexuality. The interests section is similarly tame, with tick boxes for Swingers, Strip Clubs, Orgies and Anal – it’s never going to set the world alight, in fact, it all looks a bit 1970s. The weirdest interest listed has to be ‘Visiting Special Shops’. I wasn’t sure if I was missing a niche fetish there, but having Googled it, I think they’re just a bit shy about saying sex shops.

Inside the Fetish Dating Club's community

There seem to be plenty of active members on Fetish Dating Club, and after signing up, I got a message telling me my profile would have to be approved before it went public. That took about five minutes, and I could soon get browsing through thousands of profiles.

Filters let you search for your own particular kinky type. These are basic vanilla preferences though, so don’t expect to find any sadomasochistic terms here. There’s pierced, shaved, cut, hair colour, endowed etc. If you’ve been spoilt on BDSM dating sites that truly celebrate the lifestyle, this is a letdown.

Is the Fetish Dating Club really fetish dating?

Then you've got the members. Aside from a few tits or cock shots the profile pictures are almost identical to the ones used on any vanilla site. However, there are plenty of members, and they seem to be spread all over the UK. Fetish Dating Club immediately linked up with my location and told me how far away people were, which is a handy little extra.

The profiles I looked at on Fetish Dating Club have very little personal information which is fair enough for a casual sex site, but if you are after genuine BDSM pleasure, you’ll have to look hard. Most men and women are looking for oral, adult movies and no strings. Aside from a man who was wearing his plastic shower curtain like a sarong, I saw no BDSM focused desires and no chat about bondage.

The Fetish Dating Club is all very vanilla

There’s a trickle of community spirit in the Dairies section, where you can write a blog post about your latest conquests or put a shout out to anyone in your local area. One woman seems to use it for general chit-chat, while another moans about members using fake photos: “I've seen the same cock picture on three different profiles”, she protests.

A man has a rant about men who lose their erections - not something he’s ever suffered from apparently - and it all drifts on in the same vein. If you get bored, head over to Who’s Viewed Me to see if you've hit the jackpot, but otherwise your only other option is to get out your credit card for camgirls, or Live Models, as they’re called here.

The Fetish Dating Club is an extremely straight, conventional place, nothing like a true kinky dating site and the owners do nothing to promote their apparent interest in the fetish lifestyle or any of our subcultures. It's a clone of a big database by a white label dating provider; this means that profiles are shared amongst all "dating websites" that are part of the program.

Consequently, your users on Fetish Dating Club are not particularly kinky, and they have most likely never signed up to a kinky website. It's more probable that you'll find them on flingsnear.me, TheShagClub or BritishGrannyDating.
