Difference between a kink and a fetish?

Fetish is a mental turn-on, whereas kink is what gets you going physically.

I’m sure that someone has posted this already but kink is something that you like that is arousing that’s usually within the BDSM realm. A fetish is actually listed in the DSM and one cannot obtain an orgasm without that fetish being present either physically or mentally.

It also has a non-sexual connotation in a way that Kink doesn't. The Cambridge dictionary has two definitions, and the more familiar one to me is that someone can have an intense interest that leads to a lot of time thinking about or doing it similar to a fixation or hobby - further to this, I can sat I've heard people can also describe enjoying wearing certain types of clothing and clothing styles too, without an explicitly sexual intention behind it. It's a little reductive to say that someone would wear PVC or leather purely when they want to get off. So Kink is explicitly sexual, but a fetish? Not so much 😄

Based on what I've posted just before, I remember thinking to myself that it was possibly the other way around?; "All kinks are a fetish, but not all fetishes are kinks". This is down to a fetish not explicitly having to be sexual and kinks, almost entirely, are.
There's always the exception to the rule and that's probably because non-sexual ddlg and abdl are still accepted as part of kink, but that's genuinely it

Easy way I remember is Kink is your verb and Fetish is your noun. One is the action and the other is the attraction to a person place or thing
