Massive influx of fake accounts

Recommended Posts

(edited)

tbh no matter what adult site you go on, you will always get an influx of fakes/scammers etc.  The main thing is to actually recognise these, most people after a long time, get to see the signs and avoid or are able to report them before much damage is done to others.

The problem happens when newer people are taken in and haven't learned the scammers technique etc.

You usually get a month or so of mass influx and it does take time for admins site owners to get to most of it, as there can be quite a large number and very time consuming to wade through, these scammers rely on this, just to get the odd few off site and then fleece them unhindered, before they are reported or caught,   It's a never ending and very time consuming task to weed these out.

Off the top of my head i can't remember if there is a post that new people, joining can be pointed to with hints and tips and general information, but i can see this being ignored as most think they hit the jackpot if someone is taking interest in them so soon and thinking going off platform will increase their chances.  Sadly human nature takes over from being level headed at times.

Red flags for me are instantly:-

Wanting you off to another char medium from the site you are on.

Being vague in answers and generic questions.

Asking for information that can leave your vanilla life open to exposure.

Some profile pictures can look a bit too professional or of someone of an age that you wouldn't naturally attract, a bit subjective but i rely on my r/l experience to kick in.

At the end of the day site owners and staff are only human, there is only so much they can catch and time limited as nobody can be on 24/7  Most sites including this one do a decent job in the face of the mass flooding of fake accounts and bot farms.  It's up to us to read the warning signs to help aid them in this constant internet fake war.

at the very simplest to look out for

if something seems too good to be true; it probably is

Someone superhot is moving to YOUR CITY and wants to play WITH YOU and just so happens to know a dungeon you should totally book which isn't a fake payment page, honest?

You just have to sign up to be a member of the BDSM superclub network which gets you into a whole bunch of dungeons worldwide?

This superhot sub who'd DO ANYTHING can be yours, you just have to 'buy' her out the contract with their current Mistress/Master?

of course!

Yeah I just found one by accident really a lady saying she was from Seattle. Then while cruising X I see her there from England lol of course she/he wants $200 to meet so..... oh well. Back to the drawing board.

It seems like it's all about the *** now. Finding someone real here is a million to 1 Longshot.

I'll write something from the community's perspective. :coffee_happy:
First of all, thanks to everyone who has assessed the situation realistically and shown understanding for the processes.
And: although we do work with AI and bot tools (e.g. when checking images), we do not have any “fake” AI profiles in order to reduce the frustration level of members who are having problems successfully establishing contacts. It has always been and remains our top priority with FET to offer (only) real people a platform where they can get to know each other, exchange ideas, and talk about their fetishes or explore them. We prefer to accept the fact that some members may be a little less satisfied than when they are “entertained” by “willing bots” than to have artificial profiles here. FET should be human and real. :purple_heart:

As some of you have already noted, most online portals—especially those offering contact and dating services—are affected by scammers and fake profiles. While this cannot be completely prevented, we are taking extensive measures to reduce the occurrence of such profiles as much as possible.

For example, we have various verification programs running in the background that block a huge amount of scam and fake profiles during registration or refer them to the site every day. We (or better: our Legal Department) also actively notify the authorities if there is sufficient evidence for successful legal prosecution.
Unfortunately, some of these profiles still manage to slip through the net. Because they adapt naturally and always find ways to circumvent our security measures. It's a never-ending cycle. Our technology catches up, and then everything is quiet for a while. Until they find a new way to “slip through the net.”
However, these will be blocked immediately if we notice or you report any typical comments or suspicious activity.

We have also added an extra category with lots of information and tips for you in our FAQs: FAQs on how to deal with fake profiles and abusive members (in the App you find this infos/tips in the section Community).

Please support us in our efforts by reporting anything that seems suspicious to you. And don't worry: all reports will be carefully checked and action will only be taken if suspicions are confirmed.
Let's work together to ensure that FET remains a pleasant and safe area.

Thanks a lot  :relaxed:

The two I identified here so far are over at anotherthing abbr AFF...SAME FLUNKY A.I. pics, diff names, ages, geography.
Shame.
Their coders ought be flogged.
Like it aint hard enough out here finding Love, resonance, connection...
Ah, there are so many fakes that you have to start a conversation with the assumption that they are a scummy scammer and work back from there.

There are thousands from Pretty Praire. A Kansas town with a population of 660.

It’s exhausting!!

Unless it’s something else, then I’m moving there…….

I’m rapidly coming to the conclusion that this is a garbage app. Nothing but scammers. Is there a way to filter out a city in a search? I just counted 150 straight from Pretty Praire(population 660. lol)
@sweetsurrender99 im sorry to report that this one of the BETTER places to be. Ive been on 3 others u def know & they are OVERRUN. Combine it with this sudden broken flunky attitude that REAL LIFE ANALOG is somehow IMPOSSIBLE... & also combined with the 4-6 generation long job that Dark Occult fascists like Bernays (Freuds nephew) did on American Women thru marketing, promotions, advertising... elderly, ***, family pet...and duhhhh MEN all follow Women! Insipid, evil, brilliant way to expose the soft underbelly of our culture indeed. Dopamine addicted "bone collector" girls seeking validation just rack em/stack em & move on until yr 5-6 females find a 9.5 guy who will interface (who play their own game with validation) with them, however briefly.
Its hard for everybody. Were all multi traumatized 8 ways to Sunday... & shiiiiit...I cant blame the girls too much. Looking over a female friends shoulder recently...she showed me a list of graceless hobgoblins, photodoubles & understudies for the Swamp Thing...rockin the 3rd grade vernacular with bravado. I said "yummy, huh?" "Oh honey...these are the Elysian Fields baby"

You know where Im having the most luck? MEETUP. Pick 2 or 3 groups to join, having nothing to do with hookups or dating... u might get laid THAT NIGHT. Im hardly joking.
"I went for the antiques & had a threesome that night"

i am absolutely certain that Playamedia (just like most other dating sites) is intentionally lax about fake profiles as the constant likes and spanks from fakes will manipulate unpaid users to purchase premium access.

I am not sure about that. To get points there has to be high levels of interactions liking photos, posts etc. plus we all get free spanks etc. its certainly a woman’s world in dating where they get to choose but thats ok. The scammers put people off in my opinion but I would agree that the fake accounts make up the majority of direct messages. I wonder if the females understand how scummy it can be for the males on here?

In short, yes. Women do. Many sympathise to different degrees and sometimes those who do sympathise end up remembering how scummy dating sites can be for women.

The thing in general if you find you have a spank, or that someone has viewed your profile or someone has messaged you... you don't *have* to message back.  This is an issue that guys tend to fall into.  Even if the person isn't a scam, you can read their profile and see if you might be interested and respond from there.

The issue is that men reply to everyone and that is what fuels those who are either selling or doing some form of scam and the same is true on any site.

Women, of course, receive lots of spanks, views, messages - and this is from people who are "real" as well anyone who may be attempting a scam.  Because people (men!) tend to overlook that women are a huge target for different forms of scams also.  And some of these messages are of course of different levels of quality and even something which looks... well written... like, she can look at the profile and decide "nah, we're not a match"

And she doesn't HAVE to reply, but like - look. Pretty much every woman is likely to at some point of had a moment where she goes to reply "nope, soz" and has the sympathy for how difficult it can be for men and gives some form of response "thank you for the lovely message, but I don't feel we're a match" and has then had back either a personal insult, negging, someone becoming needy or demanding - or so on.  Even something like "thank you for letting me know, could you give me advice on how to improve" is still a continuation and a request for labour even if it's not as harsh as calling someone names.

Very few men have ever had a "well you're ugly anyway" after saying no to someone

So yeah, it sucks. But understanding why it sucks is part of the solution.

You then go, what are our worries as men on dates.  Top worry for men on dates is she doesn't look like the photo.  Second top worry is that she'll want to go somewhere expensive and they feel they have to pay (or even going half can be too much) and also that it'll be some form of scam.

What are women's top worries on dates? Basically - that they will be physically or sexually ***ed. So they have to prepare based on mitigation around that.

Yes, of course it can be hard for men - boo for us.  But y'know, it's a lot easier when we're not desperately scrambling around acusing people of being fake or having some form of understanding of why things are as they are.

Desperatly scrambling around acusing of people being fake - kind of undermined anything sensible you may have said.

really? that was your take away?

Because that's one of the issues that men tend to blame everyone else rather than taking accountability.   Accepting that it is hard, understanding why women react (or don't) certain ways and seeking improvement to improve your chances.

wtf is up with this? what would help is making people fill out a full profile. basic info and a pic isn't cutting it! Also, so many people use pornstar pics 🤣🤣🤣 are we that dumb? god i hope not 🙄

Still not believing Playamedia is making anything more than a minimal effort to do something about the fakes.
i can look back at spanks and likes from very obvious fakes which i reported multiple days ago and they're still active.
i realize what i paid for upgrade isn't a lot of ***, but some cooperation would be nice.
Now back to checking out prettyprairie/prettyprairie/prettyprairie/prettyprairie/prettyprairie/prettyprairie ad nauseam in the newcomers section.

There's a ton of them, that's for sure.
Also are men too from what I have been told by some women seeing the same problem.

I have started to inviting the ones who visit my profile and spank or like to take the BDSM personality test. Some are actually doing it. Others aren't, but the ones who definitely won't are the scammers.
Some i have invited even completed their profile.

Seems that sometimes a little encouragement goes a long way.
