I think what you mean by "too extreme" needs to be addressed orthopedically....we do this kind of thing fairly regularly. What you have to consider is how you'll be bound. If your body weight is on your bound wrists, then you have to carefully consider whether your wrists will get numb. Double column rope Tie vs metal cuffs vs leather cuffs matter. If your back and hips are off your bound arms, then how? Is your weight partially suspended from your ankles alone? Do you have the right equipment for that? Can your lower back also be supported from above, like a swing? It's these questions that need to be addressed with planning and perhaps practice, at the minimum communication in the scene. Nerve damage is very unsexy. If you feel tingles in either extremity, stop. Good idea to research suspension. You do it right, though...the "flying" feeling is amazing.

I don't think so. Though I'm probably not the best person to be giving advice as I'm inexperienced myself but handcuffs and blindfolds seem to be more on the tamer end of Bdsm. The spreader bar seems a tad more extreme but if you're comfortable with that person then it's probably not an issue
