Now fidst off i wanna make it very clear im not shaming or degrading anyone kinks or fetishes either this comment is just my person view and thought on the question. Literally take it with a grain of salt if it offends well grow up.......... Im right there with you i never seen the appeal of feet or how they even remotely come off as sexy or attractive at all. I wont let anyone put their feet on me i hate touching my own feet. If you think about it feet are in shoes or boots all day serial hours sweating and whatever you step in like *** crap oil fuels on the ground even though you wipe the shoe off there still some of that on said shoe that gets tracked all over the place even into your home and you take them off and walk around youre stepping in all that stuff you brought in and it goes in someone's mouth. Personally I think that is the most disgusting thing a person can do. I know its not much different than oral sex or rimming but still ugh 😑 gross but hey to each their own on feet some love it some find it disgusting

So I dont have a source but I have seen it around a few times and it seems reasonable, but the reason feet specifically are so often a fetish is because the area of the brain that lights up for feet and for genitals are right next to each other - and so its easier for the chain of neurons for arousal and feet to trigger the same as when people see genitalia. Makes sense in my head they'd be close to each other as your brain has to deal wigh them similarly vis a vis temperature control as opposed to the rest of the body. Could be absolute bollocks im not a neurosurgeon but have seen it mentioned a few times over the years

Yes and no.

So, this is correct, but often misunderstood.

So what happens is folk saw this explanation and often repeat without fully understanding - and so it kinda goes through different varations into what sounds plausible but isn't quite correct.  A lot of what triggers us still isn't entirely known, there is evidence linking to conditioning, environment, etc. but it's not conclusive.   Things like genitals and breasts are stuff we tend to have had sexualised our entire lives - and, like, we assume everyone is aroused by them - they're not.  It's sometimes even when we say "are you more boobs or bum?" But certainly most people go through a lot of the same conditioning, environment, etc. etc. 

The thing with the kinda... "crossed wires" relates to people having their feet touched/kissed/etc.   So some people who've never thought about people at their feet suddenly find they enjoy it a lot more than they thought.  (Mind, there are a couple of people I can think of who are aware how much they enjoy it so are selective who they permit at their feet)

So with me. I’ve never really liked “feet”. Like I can look at someone in flip flops with pretty feet. It would never cross my mind. When it comes to the sheets I love them! You know for me, I have always just made the association that a women well taken of beautiful feet, also has well taken care of beautiful bodies. They are almost never exclusive. Although I have seen some beautiful women with trainwreck feet, and that ruins the image for me and I cant be attracted to them. I actually learned the answer as to why some people have a foot fetish while earning my Psychology degree in college. I’m not sure if I’m going to explain it clearly enough with words, but I’ll try.

In your brain, there is an area that processes all of our physical sensations. It interprets sensory data and helps us figure out where the sensation came from and what exactly is its nature (ie., soft or hard touch, hot or cold, ***). The entire body is essentially mapped out here, and parts that have high sensitivity such as fingertips and lips, take up a larger area than those with less sensitivity. On this so called map, the feet happen to be right next to the genitals. In some cases, the signals meant to reach only the feet get crossed and wind up instead in the genital region causing someone to become aroused by feet.

Hope this is interesting and maybe helps explain. I found it fascinating myself.

this comes up a lot and it is technically correct but misses a small fact

this is true for the person RECEIVING foot worship/play.  That if someone touches or kisses their feet, especially with sensations that are nice, it causes arousal.  I know many women like this (and also those who receive no arousal)

In itself that is a reason why some women like their feet played with (if, of course, they're aware they are one of the people who do) or in some cases, are very strict at who they let at their feet

However for the person aroused by feet - the person we would say has a foot fetish, in itself they don't benefit from this sensitivity since it's not their body.
