Not sure if anything is particularly suited to switches. And a lot might depend on whether you switched within a couple (i e. Sometimes you sub to them, other times you are dominant) or switch based on how you click with different people (i.e. with person A you're dominant but person B you are submissive). But one thing I might suggest is that you have a set of toys you use on them as a dominant and a set they use on you as a submissive (if that makes sense). I'd also consider a toy or action you agree that indicates what role you are both in. Example, wearing a particular collar, or a code word.

If you find something you really enjoy, you can always get a nicer version than what cheapo came with the little starter kit

From my research you should set ground rules on when a switch should happen. It can be anything you both agree to.
I was thinking about having separate Dom/sub storages. Passing the key for each can be a clear separation.

Speaking as a switch, it depends on what you like to keep in your wheelhouse for yourself both to have used on you, and to use on other people. I, personally, have a few strap-ons of various sizes, a couple of floggers, some rope and other bondage gear, and some handy kitchen tools that can be used as impact devices, in addition to my other vibes/dildos, etc. Everything I own obviously can be cleaned easily and/or have a condom tossed over it. The difference is knowing when you want to flip that switch between D/S.
