Storytelling perspective?

This questions stems from a recent talk I had with a friend. She identifies as straight and a little on the submissive side, but she recently discovered a thing for reading erotica written from a first person perspective of dominant men. She says it turns her on to "experience his pleasure and get inside his mind". But she then continued to say that she didn't think she would enjoy listening to a male voice reading such stories or roleplaying a sex scene.

We then wondered what others prefer (of course knowing that everybody is different).
What story perspectives do people prefer? First, second, third? Focusing on which gender and as the giving or receiving party (or from which character's perspective if first person)? Would it affect your preferences whether the story was read in a male or female voice? And what about things like JOI or audio roleplaying?

So long as the story is good, written and told well, then it doesn't matter to me who reads it, what it's about, or the perspective being presented.

I like a detailed description of feelings and emotions from any character, that's what makes a story interesting for me.

Someone I'm chatting with gets into erotica. She likes the short stories as they get to the point. I've read them, and they do a pretty good job at being descriptive. It's fun referencing the stories in our chats.

The stories are third person and describe details as if you are watching.

JOI are fun in person. Videos or anything aren't really something I get into. Haven't tried audio role-playing before.

A good story is better than video porn any day. No substitute for a good imagination!

I personally prefer first person, like your friend I like that it almost allows you to be a participant in the moment. Like you are the person in the scene feeling what the characters are feeling. It's a more intimate reader experience in my opinion

There are exceptions, of course, but I prefer first person, female, submissive.

I’m more picky about the quality of the descriptions and the details the author gets into like the emotions, actions, and sensations of the characters. While I definitely prefer third person, I think it’s not my primary concern. I just want a good story lol

For me whether in erotic or conventional literature the quality of writing is the most important thing. If a scene doesn’t lend itself to the imagination, be it a Mistress and her sub, the climactic battle between Elves and Orcs, or a simple exchange of dialogue between two characters, chances are, I will stop reading quite quickly.

In my head the characters themselves become a distinct entity in their respective roles. Some sound southern while others sound British.
I have burned out most of my brain cells in a series of small fires that I tried putting out with alcohol.

Second or third person. Simply because it’s more believable and the reader does not get side tracked with the question: how did they even know that? They weren’t even there. But what do I know, I’m only editor🤷🏻‍♀️

I love dual perspective first person erotic storytelling. Reading is better for me because I can build the character how I envision them, including their "voice." With audio reading or role play, hearing a voice can sometimes take away from the story. For example an older sounding man reading the part of a college student makes it tougher to mentally "see" that character as written

I agree audiobooks aren’t great, particularly for erotic literature. With that being said, my firsthand experience tells me text to speech software, reading erotic material back to you, is even worse. Oh the joys of living with a vision impairment and don’t even get me started on audio description in adult films…
