Stockings are often associate with sexy outfits, in fact they are sexy even when you’re wearing nothing else. Some people find them endlessly fascinating. Fishnets or seamed, hold ups or not, stocking fetishists enjoy many aspects of stocking wearing. The look of stockings held up with a suspender belt under a short skirt for example is something that many people with a stocking fetish love. Some combine the love with other fetishes such as latex and rubber, because not all stockings are nylon. Whatever they’re made of though, someone is bound to appreciate them. Wearing or looking at someone else wearing stockings can be very sexually arousing.

Role play is a core part of BDSM and fetish for a lot of people, and what is role play without costumes? While you could think of the kind of fetish wear people often wear out to clubs and parties as a 'costume', that's not usually what people mean by the term; they're generally referring to a schoolgirl, secretary, pet play or other overtly fetishised outfit designed to help the wearer embody a particular role that is not quite their usual selves. Dressing up like this is a lot of fun, and can really help people get into the headspaces they're looking to explore.

There are thousands of ways to work masking into your kink. Gas masks, for example, are a relatively common fetish; the look and feel of wearing one is highly evocative, and they have a wonderful way of making you feel cut off from the outside world. Gimp and latex masks are iconic to many kinksters, and leather masks are a versatile go-to for all kinds of people in the BDSM community. Other prominent options are medical and animal masks, which each belong to its own fetish play. Masquerade ball styled events are pretty standard in BDSM clubs, and there's something sexy about the allure of a good mask in many contexts!

Gloves can be practical and elegant; they can be long or short, made of latex, silk, leather or other materials. Gloves are something we often take for granted. They're there for when we need to wash the dishes or keep our hands warm in winter. Some people, however, find gloves far more fascinating. A glove fetish might be for a specific kind of glove or one of a particular length. There are lots of variation within this fetish, but the link is that gloves get that person hot either by wearing them or seeing someone else wearing them.

The bondage harness is an iconic symbol for all things kinky and fetish. Often used in mainstream media and film to indicate kinkiness, bondage harnesses are instantly recognisable by just about anyone, even your mother! There are several different styles from whole body to chest harnesses and bras, made too look good and also be practical. Held together with O and D rings, any of these harnesses can be used for restraint and bondage play. Very popular at dungeons, sex clubs and fetish parties, a bondage harness can be worn by any kinkster, submissive or dominant and is a highly popular item of fetish wear.

While most bondage is focused on keeping a person in one place, there are a few methods designed to provide a sense of restriction without entirely keeping the wearer from moving around and using their body. Some shibari ties are designed to be worn under the clothes to this effect, but they're not you're only option - you also have the ballet boot and the hobble skirt. Hobble skirts are, essentially, extremely tight skirts. They're often made of rubber, leather or latex, and they're designed to greatly restrict the range of movement the wearer has in their legs without completely immoblising them as a straightjacket or something similar would. They're often seen paired with ballet boots, shibari ties and other bondage-focused clothing, and they're a common sight in fetish clubs and at kink parties.

Some people enjoy specific kinds of socks, plain white cotton ones that go with a school uniform or brightly coloured knee highs. Some people enjoy the smell and look of worn socks. Steampunk has become a massive phenomenon in recent years. It influences fashion, books and movies. It's not something that is widely understood, past being all about cogs and brown clothing, but steampunk is a genre that imagines that the industrial age stopped at steam. It has been popular for a long time among science fiction fans and those who love things historical but with a twist. Convention and cosplay events are popular, and steampunk outfits have become a staple at fetish events, too. If you want to get inventive with cog-driven sex toys and fantasies, then steampunk is for you.

For centuries suits have been a sign of masculinity, wealth and power. The style changes, from tight jodhpurs and frilly, lace-edged shirts in one era to the sharp, straight-edged suits we know today. Worn by people of all genders, suits are symbols of power and are often worn to show superiority or dominance or to fit in with other powerful people. No wonder suits and all the accessories that can come with it are the focus of a fetish! Handkerchiefs, cufflinks and ties all play their part in suit fetish too. The whole package adds up to power-play fun and games for those with a suit fetish.

Leggings have been the butt of jokes for decades, (pun not intended) given the view that they're the trouser choice for those who can't be bothered. Because they're stretchy and tight, they don't leave much to the imagination and often made of shiny fabric that feels nice against the skin, no wonder people develop a fetish for these leg-enhancing pants! They're easily accessible and relatively cheap. Leggings are a handy item of clothing that anyone can wear at any time.

High heels have long been held as some of the very sexiest footwear you can own and wear. Stilettos are often the style that jumps to mind when thinking high heels, with their thin, tall heel but there are all kinds of high heels including platforms and wedges. High heel fetish is one that is very common and lots of people know about it. It can be very much connected with foot fetish but it varies from person to person. Some guys just love the shoes themselves, some like to wear them and others love to see other people’s feet inside them

Rubber is an incredibly common fetish, and the people who love it often love everything about it: the feel, the texture, the look, the effect. Some enthusiasts are never happier than when clad head to toe in rubber clothes, while others are more interested in rubbr bondage. However you like to express your rubber fetish, you're probably familiar with how appealling the sensation and the scent of it can be. Rubber needs a little TLC from time to time (powdering and oiling and usually essential) and for many fans this is as much a part of the fetish as anything else. Mens rubber suits are have tonnes of fans on the gay rubber scene where this fetish seems to be particularly popular.

A lingerie fetish is so common it's almost mainstream - and who doesn't like the look of a high-quality set of stockings and suspenders? There's more to the genre than that, though; from g-strings to jock straps, there's something for everyone regardless of their sexual preferences or gender identity. Lingerie can also cross over with other, more specific sexual mores such as leather, latex or nylon. More and more fetish wear online retailers are offering hard to find sizes and styles, and the possibilities are limitless. Check out the magazine section of the website for several articles focusing on how to make gorgeous lingerie work for you - no matter who you are or what you're looking for.

Clothing and material fetishes come in many forms. Patent leather can hold a wide range of associations: it's dark and tough and sexy, but it's also traditionally associated with the shiny shoes you may have worn with a party dress in your childhood. This makes it beloved of old-school kinksters and age play aficionados alike, and with its long-wearing durability and striking good looks you can't go wrong. It also has a distinctive texture, a noticeable scent and a tendency to need a little care and maintenance from time to time - all of which are things that make it a great option for new additions to your kinky wardrobe.

Latex is a flexible, flattering and versatile material used in all kinds of ways in the kink community. It's great for costumes of all shapes and sizes, latex dresses and latex catsuits are popular examples, and it's also a fantastic material for all kinds of toys and bondage gear. Bear in mind though that it does need some looking after; you need to be careful to only use water-based lubricants with your latex gear, and to rub your latex clothes dry with talcum powder after wiping them clean with some slightly soapy water. Pretty much any item of clothing has a latex counterpart, from stockings to hair accessories, so with a little shopping around you're bound to find something that suits you.

The corset has been around since at least the sixteenth century, and in that time it's changed a great deal. While once whale bones were all the rage, these days the best corset makers use sprung steel, which is both more effective and less dangerous! Most people don't find corsets suitable for everyday wear, but on special occasions, they can both look and feel fantastic. Bondage fans enjoy the sense of restriction, and plenty of people think they look fabulous as well. These days corsets are a common part of kink wear and fetish clothing as well as of the goth style, and used responsibly they're a fantastic way of jazzing up your outfit a bit.

Leather it's a great material for making all kinds of kinky accouterments: it's used in leather wear such as collars, cuffs and corsets as well as in paddles and floggers and crops. For another, it's long been used as a material for all kinds of S&M and kinky clothing - for example the jockstrap, that's part of a longstanding and well-established kink subculture. Leather is used as the name of a subculture in its own right, one generally associated with kinky gay men. Leather 'families' are essentially poly groups containing people who are especially into leather; they're a longstanding tradition with many of their own rules and habits.

While PVC and latex are often lumped in with each other, there are some fetishists and kinksters who have a clear preference for one over the other. The two materials can look and feel different, though both have similar applications in terms of clothing and accessories (not to mention bedsheets and other kinky apparatuses!). PVC is often cheaper than latex, making it a great choice for someone just starting out with fetish wear. Check out our magazine section for some ideas on how to make kink clothing work for you and where to find outfits a little off the beaten track.

For many people, sex is primarily about sensation - and BDSM is no different. While leather, PVC and latex are the most common material-based fetishes, there are plenty of room for others as well! Silk clothing is sometimes fetishised, partly for its smooth feel but also for the associations it brings with it. There's something inherently decadent and luxurious about silk, which means it sets off the look and feel of many scenes beautifully. Clothing isn't the only way to use silk, of course! Silk restraints and silk bedsheets are also excellent ways to bring this unique sensation into your fetish play with ease.

Fully fashioned real silk stockings have an undeniable elegance to them, but they're not the only way of cladding your legs in style. Through the 30s and 40s, nylon was what you wanted. It was more practical, easier to wear and longer-lasting than its traditional woven counterpart. These days, few people wear proper stockings at all; tights, leggings and hold-ups are more common by far. For those with a big nylon fetish, however, they're irreplaceable, they're sexy, they're practical, and they're a great addition to almost any kinky outfit. Nylons are a gloriously versatile choice, and they're affordable to boot!

The leather-clad dominatrix walking over the back of a prone submissive man while wearing vastly high spike stilettos is a hallmark of the popular perception of BDSM. While this does of course happen in real life it's not the be all and end all of shoe fetishes; people of all gender identities and sexual orientations often appreciate the look, feel and mystique of a good pair of shoes. For some people this can involve wanting to help people put them on and take them off, or wanting to lick the sole clean or suck on the heels; shoe worship is common amongst kinksters, too.

AB/DL stands for 'adult baby/diaper lover', and is distinct from other age play fetishes like daddy dom/little girl in several ways. While people who identify as littles often feel as though their 'little self' is an integral part of them, adult babies tend to have a clearer sense of engaging in a role play scenario. Diaper fetishes can also exist in isolation from baby play, and some find it difficult to achieve sexual satisfaction unless a diaper is involved, for example through diaper bondage. Baby play specifically addresses the natural need of all people to feel loved, protected and cared for - as well as giving its participants the chance to cut loose, relax and give up all their responsibilities for the length of a scene.

Uniform play is a staple of the world of kink. There's something liberating about being able to take on a role and slip into a persona, particularly one that has been the subject of many of your fantasies. Police officers, schoolgirls and French maids are the staples of the genre - though there are, of course, hundreds of potential scenarios for you to explore! Uniformed play often crosses over into other kinks and fetishes. Teacher/student might have a heavy element of caning, for example, while Nurse/patient often incorporates things generally associated with medical play. Whatever you're into, don't be afraid to experiment - exploration makes the world go round, after all.

Spandex fetishists don't get a great deal of press. Spandex, after all, is entirely form-fitting and it can heighten sensation when parts of your body are stroked and caressed through it. It's also flexible, versatile, easy to make things out of, widely available and much more affordable than leather or rubber can be. What's more, it plays nicely into some other potential fantasies; the energetic gym-goer, or the strict personal trainer. If spandex is your thing, you're in luck; the possibilities are endless, and far more accessible than many of the other clothing kink counterparts!

Wet look clothing is a staple of alternative scenes for a reason. It's versatile, and goes with a wide range of alt styles; goths, punks, hipsters and kinksters alike can all work wet-look material into their wardrobe without seeming out of place. It's relatively inexpensive but appears to be an outfit that has had some effort put into it, meaning that it's a great way to get the look you're after when you're on a budget. Some fetishists like it for more reasons than simply those, of course! It's usually thin, smooth and form-fitting, meaning that it's a wonderful way to show off a figure or heighten the sensation of being touched.

Pretty much everyone has some kind of clothing that they're turned on by, whether when worn by them or when worn by someone else. For a lot of people that clothing is a little risque: maid-style outfits, or pleated schoolgirl skirts, or stockings and suspenders. For some it's a whole other fetish in its own right, such as PVC corset and latex catsuits. Whatever your preference, there will be something out there that turns you on - so get shopping! Our magazine section has plenty of articles on how to find clothes you love, even in sizes that are sometimes difficult to track down or styles that aren't always super common.

Also known as bondage suits, BDSM gimp suits are great for bondage fun. Created to fit the body snuggly and with attachments to easily restrain the wearer, they are very popular with bondage bottoms and submissives. Head to toe, usually black in colour and using rubber, latex and other sensual fabrics these suits transform the wearer into a sexual object to be played with by their dominant. A BDSM gimp suit puts the wearer in their place – roundly in control of the person in charge as they can’t do anything much without help or permission. The iconic item of clothing is often used in films to show people are into BDSM. A BDSM gimp suit is definitely the kinkiest one you’ll ever own.
