Popular Post xX**** Posted March 20 Popular Post Heya! I was wondering whether zip ties were a good alternative to handcuffs, should one demand a rougher experience. Marks, bruises and the like aside, it should be a possibility, no? Might there be a difference in using them on a man v woman? Aiming to explore both options. Thank you!
CM**** Posted March 20 In law en***ment, zip ties are used as a substitution when needed so in theory, yes you can. However, Zip ties won't just leave marks and bruises, if put under too much pressure, they could stop simulation or start cutting through the skin, depending on what the submissive would be doing with the zip ties on, depends on if it is a good substitute
Symbi0nt Posted March 20 zip ties are more or less a no go...cause they tighten themselve while moving...and they can cause major problems...so dont...use tape instead
DD0001 Posted March 20 I use zip ties all the time. One recommendation i would make is to instead of using one to tie both hands, use one on each hand and then have a third to join the two together. Same with legs. This stops it from cutting off circulation. Also always have a cutter/scissors on hand in case of emergencies.
ba**** Posted March 20 Wider tie wraps are better as they do not cut into skin as bad unless thats what you are going for
Da**** Posted March 20 No, in a bad event or movement, they keep getting tighter. Go to a thrift store and buy some silk scarves or equivalent. Always be safe

DarkArts1066 Posted March 20 Simple answer - for safety reasons - No !. I have used professional zip tie restraints in a professional capacity, and can tell you -for certain, that the element of risk does not warrant their use in a recreational environment. They require training in their correct use, including the appropriate handling and movement of a person wearing them, and misplacing a set of ‘snips’ when you need to remove said ties rapidly, can be catastrophic. (No -that didn’t happen to me, but one should be prepared correctly.) There will be people here who say “ahh it’s fine, just be careful” The risk outweighs the reward. Any damage caused can be permanent. If you want to use restraints, other than handcuffs, then perhaps look at “VIPER Restraints”, which stands for Violent Incident Prevention & Evasion Restraints. These are a type of strap cuff, secured with Velcro used by Law En***ment and the Medical Profession -but understand consequences like restricted *** flow, and positional asphyxia before you do so. On NO account EVER, use them for suspension. (obvious - I know, but I’ve heard of people who have used them for this, with carastrophic effect.)
Na**** Posted March 20 Do NOT use everyday zip ties. Way too much risk in using them! There are however (available in the UK anyway) zip ties specifically made and designed for kink based fun that have quick release systems so you can easily loosen them/take them off when needed. Waaaaay much safer but still lots and lots of fun!
Deleted Member Posted March 20 If you do use them 1) NEVER use them as load bearing, ie, don't use them to hold someones weight. 2) only use the adjustable/reusable zip ties that have a release button. 3) DON'T tighten them enough that they press into the skin. 4) have first aid/medical/emergency scissors, not just a random pair of scissors out the kitchen drawer or toolbox, pay for a good pair specific for cutting kink bindings in an emergency. Personally I treat them like a roleplay plaything, like cheap ebay/amazon fluffy handcuffs, they just aren't a competently safe enough restraint, for many reasons, to treat like a high quality pair of metal/real leather cuffs.
Me**** Posted March 20 Strongly agree with others cautioning against it. It was used on me many years ago and it is terrible and risky. As a Dom I never use them because of the risk, even if you need a rougher experience there are other better alternatives.
Jo**** Posted March 21 They are, but I would always make sure to have some sharp scissors nearby that could easily cut the zip ties if needed in case of emergency.
Li**** Posted March 22 I’ve been “zipped” a few times and yes it works fine, but keep scissors around 😉

It can be difficult to cut off, plus people are reluctant to cut it because it’s a fancy silk scarf. This could cause more bruising and circulation damage while trying to untie the very tight knots. There are “silky” type fabrics that are better for tying. Whatever you use, ALWAYS have some safety scissors that are strong and large enough to cut your restraint if needed.

I agree with this actually. There is a way around it though. I have a silk scarf which I use as a blindfold, and another much longer one, which I use as a ‘soft tie’ -one that restricts movement, but is easily removed. You can buy Bra Fasteners from a Habadashery or dressmakers shop or online site - and 1 inch and 2inch elastic strapping. Sew two short lengths of the elastic strapping to the ends of the silk, then add the Bra Fasteners. Easy to release in a hurry if you need to, and equally, you can wrap the silk over itself a few times to create a ‘lock’ - but still release it instantly, because of the elastic and the hooks. “Necessity is the Mother of invention”.
