What is a Mistress

OK, this question sounds utterly silly BUT hear me out.

A female friend of mine, actually an ex-girlfriend (but is still very close to me), is the sweetest girl in the world but not really worldly wise, asked me what a Mistress was and would I consider her for it?

I said it was basically me providing for her, looking after bump (her 6 week old), paying for stuff, cooking and cleaning for her etc etc. 

She said but you do that already so what is difference?

TBH I was stumped. What is the difference????? LOL

eg. We have got back together now and just binge watched some Hallmark romance movies together while sat in bed with bump fast asleep on my chest. Agreed to take her shopping for perfurme and new clothes etc. Earlier I ran her a hot bath and lit loads of scented tea light candles and placed them around bath. I now consider her my girlfriend albeit she is bit high maintenance and demanding but am curious as to the difference between that and the official role of Mistress?

oh and we don't have sex other than oral, mainly cos I am unable to perform due to physical damage, then she has been pregnant and she actually prefers to use a dildo and a large wand which she claims is better than a man lol

the kinda thing is generally is a lot of people have a different ideas what makes a Mistress.  And I aint saying what is wrong or right, but what works for you - and in your case it MAY just be formalising what you do already.

Thank you. I think she has a point!

Today:

1) I got locked in cage and she has the keys on her necklace
2) cooked full english breakfast and served it to her in bed
3) ran her bath
4) gave her a massage with scented oil
5) fed bump and changed his nappies
6) took her shopping and bought her perfume, dress, few tops and new shoes
7) spent afternoon cleaning house while she watched movies.
8) she ***d on me
9) bought her a Burger King lunch
10) Cooked her a traditional lancashire hot pot from scratch for tea
11) she admitted quite fanced my ex-girlfriend and wanted to have sex with her in front of me

She asked if she had been a good Mistress? it was first day of her ever doing kink?!

The only issue was her ***ing on me which I'd asked for by prior agreement. She somehow managed to miss my mouth even though sat on it, good job I'd put towel down....

So is her question valid? is she a mistress or just a girlfriend?

It looks to me more like a FLR, Female Led Relationship which has a little less formalities than a full blown M/s dynamic…
But over time it might well become more structured and permanent…
