Have you ever been on hoilday or for another reason visiting a diffrent area of the world and when you got back home miss somthing you ate or drank while away.

Yes of in my opinion you enjoyed the culture and experience

Yep... I miss a proper Bossche bol, I know there are éclairs and profiteroles.. But they are just not the same.

Yes, I had an amazing paella in S*** last year, and I really wish I could get some of it over here. Obviously you can get it here but it just isn’t the same.

Backpacking across Africa in the '90s I'd reached Uganda whilst eating local food exclusively. However, I'd developed a craving for the humble baked bean. Stumbling upon a duty-free shop in Kampala I discovered some ex-pat tins of tomato sauce-flavoured goodness. The tins were heated in the embers of a camp fire on the shores of Lake Albert, with lions roaring on the other side of the lake and hippo grazing in the darkness around my tent. Not quite the beans on toast in front of the telly that I reminisced about but it was so yummy!

Conversely, I still fondly remember Bunny Chow in South Africa (curry in a hollowed out bread loaf), bison burgers in Ontario and Poutine in Quebec (gravy, peas and cheese curds over chips/fries). Travel broadens the mind - and the menu!

In my case, I travelled to Malaysia for six weeks. I ate do much stuff over there, all local, all from street stalls. When I came back home I couldn't stand the westernised special fried rice. It's so empty.

there was a banging Sangria I had in Tenerife been unable to match.

Also cannot beat a good German breakfast.

Mind - it was some of the fish in Finland got me hooked

I want to vist the usa 1 day and do a food tour.

Yes you can make the food when you get home if you can find the ingredants but its never going to be the samd as you ate were you were

I lived in Germany for 3 years and I really miss the doner kebabs from the Turkish places.
