Tonight, we are exploring the 5 Senses and the feelings and emotions they can invoke and how  each of the senses individually fit as a whole together.

1.       Does anyone know what the 5 Senses are?

  • Sight
  • Smell
  • Sound
  • Taste
  • Touch

2.      Looking at Sight first,  how can sight play a part in sexual arousal and BDSM?

  • Dressing in something sexy – the viewers experience of that sight heightens their sexual arousal
  • Reading erotica – provokes thoughts and desires and in the minds eye of what they would like to experience
  • Watching erotica – visually appealing, evokes stimulation
  • Watching a BDSM scene or demonstration
  • Watching your partner in play, looking for signs that they are aroused
  • Seeing glazed eyes, goose bumps on skin, a certain smile
  • Removing sight – to heighten senses

3.      Sight can be considered our first learning tool.  What have you seen that has helped you in your BDSM journey?

4.      Many people are visual people and sight plays an important role in their connections to others but can that be an impairment?

  • Judging on looks rather than the persons quality
  • Seeing others through rose coloured lenses
  • Seeing them on a pedestal

5.      Removing someone's sight can heighten the senses but what are the dangers we need to look out for by doing so?

  • Listen to their breathing is it erratic, not the norm
  • Possible triggers

6.      Moving onto Smell.  Do you find smell increases your sexual desire or do certain smells turn you right off?

  • Perfume/Aftershave
  • Bad Body Odour

7.      Do pheromones excreted from the body propel the need and desire for sex?

8.       What can you do with smell to increase sexual desire?

  • Scented Candles
  • Wear Perfume/Aftershave

9.      What are some ways you can remove smell and what is object of doing so?

  • Pegs
  • Nose Plugs
  • Mask/Hood
  • Overpowering foods, such as chilly, onion
  • Power of Surprise
  • Heightens other senses

Moving onto Sound.

10.   Sound can often set the scene to any play session or intimate encounter what sounds have you used to enhance the mood?

  • Music – different beats, songs, create different atmospheres
  • The use of music or sounds to bring on confusion or irritation or the sense of calm
  • Whisper in an ear
  • Using blindfolds, to increase the sense of sound thus creating the element of surprise

11.  What are other reasons sounds are so important to play?

  • Partner can hear if someone is in distress
  • Listening to breathing patterns
  • Listening to the Moans, the grunts, the dialogue, lets you know the person is being affected whether positive or negative by their tones

12. What are the benefits of removing someone’s ability to hear?

  • Increase anticipation of play
  • The unexpected, the unknown
  • To heighten other senses such as Touch

13.  Our next sense is Taste, what are some of the ways you can use taste in play?

  • Overwhelm the senses with different types of tastes, Hot, Spicy, Sour, Bitter, Tarte, Sweet, Savoury, Salty
  • Textures – Jellies, cream, sauces, crème brulee or ice cream
  • Different temperatures of food – Ice cold, warm, hot
  • Bring food into the bedroom use as part of your play, feeding each other, or tasting each other
  • Using each other as a platter
  • Teasing with food or with liquid

14. How can you use Taste to increase your sexual cravings?

  • Aphrodisiac teas
  • Aphrodisiac foods  - figs, oysters, strawberries, watermelon, chocolate, asparagus, ginseng

15.  What are somethings you should watch out for when taste is involved?

  • Allergies
  • Bad Breath
  • Food not to hot as to burn
  • Choking hazards
  • Have water handy

Moving on to our final sense Touch

16. The sense of touch can evoke and provoke many emotions, what do you think of some of these maybe?

  • Love
  • Adoration
  • ***
  • Intrepidation
  • Arousal
  • Sadness
  • Happiness, Joy, ecstasy

17. Touch can be enhanced and or denied, how do you think this can be achieved in play?

  • Satin Sheets
  • Clothing worn – latex, rubber, silk, satin, leather
  • The feel of a Pinwheel opposed to a Feather
  • The feel of a spank of a hand opposed to flogger, paddle or whip
  • The desire to be touched, but not touched
  • A subtle touch to let you know they are present
  • The ***ful touch
  • Hot wax vs cold ice
  • Removing your sight so you don’t know when you will be touched to heighten the sense of touch
  • Removing your ability to be touched

The senses can work harmoniously together but when you remove one or more others become heightened.

18. In your play what senses do you enjoy the most and why? and which ones do you hate losing the most?

19.  What is your favourite combination of senses? Either removed or enhanced?

20.  Any other final thoughts on the 5 Senses.

Thank you to all who attended the Quarantine Munch and to our wonderful @Chiana
