Le Appetite- Part 15

August 31

G awoke to the sounds of pans banging softly in the distance, as her vision began to return she found herself in the familiar environment of steven's apartment. Slowly she tried to sit up.

"Good morning sunshine! ", the familiarity of steven’s voice cresting over her body and coaxing her to lie back down.

"Don't sit up too fast, you fell pretty hard for me last night.", she was so glad to hear his dumb jokes again.

"I fell?", she asked, half dazed and still coming out of her sleep.

“You did princess… I wanted to call the ambulance for you but then you got up and started saying you were fine and you just needed rest.”

"I don't remember any of that ", Geneva suddenly found herself cringing at the thought of it.

“haha well that's not all you said you needed! That's why I brought you here. Couldn't have you going on about that curse of yours in front of my buddies behind the bar. A beautiful girl like you going on and on about needing sex to survive? Well I wouldn't want them getting any bright Ideas."

"G" scoffed at this, but still she was thankful he had taken care of her.

"How ARE you feeling though?" his eyes shined bright as he looked into hers. Almost as if he were searching for any semblance of hurt or *** on her face.

"I actually feel good. Did we??" Steven raised one knowing eyebrow at her question.

“No, it didn’t feel right with you in that state, plus you crashed in my bed almost as soon as we got here.”, Steven said rubbing his hand nervously on the back of his head.

But Geneva's mind was already turning. What caused her to faint and where had the usual *** gone? Would it return before she could fill her quota again?

"Thank you for caring for me last night. I know my leaving so suddenly last time... "Steven interrupted her.

“About that... you mentioned a note last night. Look what I found by the door... "

And he produced a small yellow Post-it note. With Geneva's handwriting on it.

“Call me. ‘G’ (310)678-6785...” Steven read the little note with an air of amusement as he then lifted it far above his head.
Geneva, mortified, leapt off of the bed and into his lap in her attempt to grab the note.

"I'm keeping this!”, Steven said playfully.
And as he held her, she began to soften in his arms.

"I didn't mean to just take off... "She said softly as she nestled herself into his chest.

"It's alright", he said affectionately. "It gave me some time to do a little research.

"Research? Into what? "Geneva said looking up at him, while pulling herself ever so slightly away.

"Into this ‘curse’ of yours... you'd be surprised what you can find on Google these days.", He said grinning wildly.

"I didn't ask you to do that... "Geneva leaned back a little more.

"I know, but you have to see what I've found...", taking her hands, steven led her to his desk on the other side of the room.

And Geneva wondered how she'd never noticed the mess of papers strewn over his laptop before, though in the heat of their last moments there together, she had no idea why she would have noticed it.
