Le Appetite- Part 16

Steven held her hand gently as he led Geneva over to his desk. He spoke softly as if trying not to spook a wild ***.

“So listen, just try to keep an open mind about all this, I looked up your family history… and…”

“You what?” G found herself suddenly yelling. “How did you even get my last name?” Her face grew hotter as she waited for his answer.

“Last time you were here. I looked through your purse at your ID… Something told me you might not stick around in the morning… and I just wanted to be able to find you G…” he said nervously.

“I can’t believe you would violate my privacy like that!… You…” Geneva yelled even louder as Steven interrupted her.

“I did and I’m sorry G but you have to look at this… Please!” Geneva felt the longing in his expression melting her heart and she couldn’t say another word.

Steven moved closer to pull her over, “Just sit here G, look.”
Geneva sat down at his desk, in front of his laptop, arms crossed and still fuming with anger… But she decided to let him explain.

“So it all starts here with this ancestor Aurelie Fontenot and her daughter Marie who lived in the French Quarter in the year 1910. Aurelie worked for a very wealthy family. The Villeres. The father Henri Villere was well respected in town as was his wife Marguerite. Aurelie worked hard as a nurse taking care of their only son Claude Villere. The legend goes that the Villeres were seen as good Christian people, and while Aurelie found them fair and kind to her and her daughter, her time spent away from Marie and taking care of Claude filled her days with sorrow. In fact when Marguerite Villere caught wind of Aurelie’s plight, she insisted Aurelie and her daughter move into Villere House with them but only to live in the servants quarters below the home. Naturally Aurelie agreed and the two who were close in age grew to be “good” friends.

“’Kay? But what does any of this have to do with me?” G interrupted…

Steven shuddered as he spoke, “More than you know… Anyways, as they grew older it was said that unbeknownst to Aurelie, the son Claude had developed a mean streak. All day the they would run up and down the halls playing one game or another, but Marie was never allowed to win.

But all that changed one late summer afternoon. It’s said that Claude and Marie were out playing tag by the river when Marie tagged the boy just as he fell into the mud. Claude in his anger pushed poor Marie into the river to watch her flail around and laugh. Marie, being of the poorer class still had no idea how to swim, but by the time Claude realized the girl was drowning, it was too late. It’s said poor Aurelie only found her daughter after the boy came running home alone and refused to say what happened. Aurelie found poor Marie lying face down on the river bank. Aurelie became so enraged, that very night she returned to Villere House to slaughter the entire family, lost in her grief she ***ed Claude, Henri, and Marguerite in cold ***. And as she stood drenched head to toe in their *** a powerful curse was born….”

Geneva could hardly hold her disgust. She was horrified but she needed to know…
“What was the curse, what was the curse?!” Steven answered solemnly, “It’s said that because of Aurelie’s monstrous appetite for revenge, she and her descendants would be cursed with an insatiable hunger for the rest of their days…”
