I have been asked to get one and the moment personal details were being asked for and especially my card details I got a little suspicious.

There's many ways to validate who you are, but any time they need to leave here to some other site just for confirmation it's most likely a scam

Online don’t do it , if you’re meeting up in person a couple times before play sessions and want to verify someone is of legal age checking ID 🪪 should be fine .
