Cosplay is more than just dressing up and is becoming a greater part of both mainstream and fetish culture. The wonderful thing is that you have opportunities within kink and vanilla life where you can use your latex dress, rubber or superhero costumes for women without shame. Fetish.com's Victoria Blisse investigates the phenomenon.

Up, up, and away! - Cosplay goes mainstream

Calling someone a geek used to be an insult, these days it's emblazoned on T-shirts, and there are huge conventions like Comic-Con that celebrate all things geek. The Fetish and BDSM scene has always been a refuge for those of alternative cultures, including those of a geeky disposition. So already there's a lot of crossover between fetish wear and superhero costumes for women and with companies such as Libidex selling everything from latex dresses, rubber suits and superhero masks for example. Geeks have been expressing their geek love through Star trek latex, Indiana Jones bullwhips and other sexy costumes as long as the kink scene has been around.

However, now you can wear your Libidex latex catsuit and other superhero costumes for women to kink events and in the mainstream too. Why is this? One decisive factor is the growing popularity of DC comics and Marvel movies. Everyone wants to cosplay their favourite superhero from Wonder Woman to Captain America. It doesn't matter what sex you are either; you can dress up as whichever hero (or villain) you like. Gender-bending is all part of the fun. You've seen Deadpool, right?

Pulling off latex dress at mainstream events

In a world mad for the Avengers and the Justice League, it's the best time to wear your latex dress and other cosplay fetish wear to mainstream events such as Halloween parties and Comic-Cons. However, how far can you push it?  Wearing your Libidex rubber catsuit or Harley Quinn latex dress won't be a problem. You'll raise some brows but in a good way, like when Nicki Minaj wore a pretty pink latex catsuit to the MTV video awards in 2017. What you will want to avoid is any kind of outfit that reveals genitals or breasts. You don't want to cause outrage, especially if you're at a party where not everyone will be over 18.

However, if you own such adult costumes, then you can always wear them with other vanilla accessories like skirts, tops and superhero masks to cover up what you might not want to be seen. Put on a red skirt over a Supergirl latex bodysuit, for example, to make it more appropriate for a non-kink event.

Always be ready to answer questions, you might be able to use the excuse that you're playing the kink/porn version of your favourite superhero or video game star. However, some people might have questions when you've spent hundreds of pounds on a rubber suit or latex dress just for one cosplay. They might wonder at the authenticity of your cuffs, whips and other props too. It's easier to answer questions when you expect them than when they come out of the blue.

The other way round you can add fetish items to mainstream superhero costumes for women. Shop at places like Libidex for a geeky latex dress, rubber or superhero mask to add a little fetish flair to your cosplay.  More and more cosplay is part of the fetish world. It is a fetish all of its own, in fact, but can also be used for a little role play fun too.

Slip into a kinky persona with superhero costumes for women

When you dress up as a character from a film, book or video game, you take on that persona for a while. That's perfect for kink play, where people are often purposefully looking for a way to escape their mundane day-to-day existence. Superhero cosplay allows you to be brave, bold and save the day. On the other hand, maybe you want to be the victim - tied up, tortured and beaten by the baddie. Who doesn't want to be interrogated by Catwoman, eh? Cosplay gives you the chance to try all this out in a risk-aware, positive way.

Add a little beating with Thor's hammer into your next scene or wield Wonder Woman's lasso of truth. Add a little imagination into your usual BDSM and fetish play. Role play is definitely fun, and it means you can let your geek side and your kinky side out to play all at the same time. Cool, huh?

Remember, you don't have to keep your latex dress just for fetish or rubber fetish events. Check out Libidex and buy some superhero latex and you can use it for all kinds of occasions. Dress up in superhero costumes for women inside and outside of the bedroom but remember to have lots of fun and don't ever make fun of someone for their cosplay, well, unless they're into humiliation and have asked you to do that, of course.

What are you waiting for? Hit Libidex today and get your geeky little self into superhero costumes for women and some sexy rubber or latex cosplay gear!

COMICON CONFESSION?

This really could be my most unlikely kink. We know about the CMNF or CFNM games but is there something similar when a non-Cosplay guy turns up at his first COMICON and thinks POW WTF when sees some of the cute COSPLAY girls in action?

I have no desire to dress up myself hence my comparison to CMNF. What name could this kink phenomenon have? Big bang theory ?
