I had an "incident" of this nature at a club. It was very awkward for various reasons. Though I know many relatives are into it and we joke and stuff about it as we are more open.

Someone I know, their first ever event was the munch run by their brother. They just kept their distance from each other 😂 They are still both in the scene now, and have the vaguest idea about each others dynamics and partners, but generally stay away from the topic.
