FET functionality questions

It seems such a basic ui/ux improvement to add the ability to search kinksters by how they identify/tag themselves. It would GREATLY reduce the frustration and number of false starts in filtering only to find as a Dom ive clicked into a Dommes profile rather than a Sub.

The TOS on Fet's website say basic functiobality including messages/dms will always be free. I cannot seem to message anyone without upgrading. Why do I need to subscribe to say hi to someone now?

This is indeed part of the functioning of the website/app.  Firstly in the Newsfeed you can filter to see updates by gender, age and location, relationship status, and whether they are looking for the gender you identify with.

Secondly in the search area, "knitters' can be filtered by their gender,  roles and archetypes, age, location, whether they are looking for your gender, what they are looking for, kinks and fetishes, orientation and other definable aspects of their profile.  You can make it as specific as you'd like, to filter down to only what you're seeking and what they're seeking.

Also of course you can look at matches for those who match on your BDSM profile alone.

Are you a new member?  In the initial period as a new free member, messaging is limited, to stop spammers and fakes who join for free and run rampant amongst the genuine members.  Unfortunately it is a problem with online communities.

Or it could be that you're trying to message people who only allow upgraded members to message them in their message filters? Or its suggesting you send a gift to get their attention because you're filtered out due to the nature of your profile?

To add to what @FETMod-HGsaid.  There are multiple factors that may limit your messaging.

Firstly,  if you've exchanged messages with a person, then there is NO limit to messaging that person (unless they subsequently withdraw consent (block you etc)).

Secondly, as a basic member, you are limited to 100 'icebreaker' messages a month (i.e you making the first move).  If they reply, no limit on you and them carrying on the exchange.  If you use up your icebreaker messages, you have to wait until your account is topped up (a rolling entitlement).  If a user 'spanks' you, the filter limits no longer apply. Note: be cautious when 'spanked' as sometimes spammers use that method to attract attention without using up their own icebreaker quantity.

A user can specify message filters.  If you are outside those message filter limits, you won't be able to message the user (i.e. they specify they want to talk to women and you aren't one).

Finally (unless I've forgotten any), new and popular members can't be messaged by basic members for an initial period.

The only place you can't filter by what their role is, is the "Spank/Crush" section, that's limited to gender and age, but if you go to browse members, there are filters that are free where you can pick all of those things. The only paid filters are things like, organizing them by last login or a few others that aren't totally necessary but just nice to have.

So if you're looking for something specific, go to the search/browse members or whatever it's called, don't try to do it from the match "game" thing.

This is not the case. If they pay for Fet you can only like their profile not send a message. It does not matter how long you have been on Fet. This is a new issue that has occurred in the last couple of months.

You are referring to the News feed part of the site. Thats NOT what I was referring to. I was talking about the actual SEARCH portion of the site which seems to lack these basic functions. This is the only area that let's me filter to kinkseters within a specific radius, etc.

I understand that fet has a sort of dual personality as both a kink social media and kink dating site. The dating and connection function could use the same filters as the so I'll media side.

I'm not clear what you mean, there is a role/achitype spot for master/mistress, sadist, degrader. That's in the kinkster search.

You can search by roles and gender so I'm not sure how you'd end up with dommes rather than subs unless they've not labelled themselves accurately.

Can FET please add the ability to filter by those only looking for men or women in the spanks search feature? As a guy, it’s disappointing to see a profile you like and to find out that they are only in search of women.

This is a great idea - if you go into help, my tickets, you can create a ticket and make a suggestion about the app in there.  Those ready the support centre, who can put it on the list of future ideas.

If there is a problem with the app / website functionality, go to help and your tickets to add a ticket and report it to the support team.  They control the website / app build. In the forum there are a team of volunteer members helping it run well, who don't have access or involvement in the website and app build.

Went on the swiping part to try and match with some people but every single guy I’d come across is straight.. obviously that renders the swiping pointless to me. Is there a way to only see guys that are also interested in guys? Or is there no filter for that.. cause I don’t see anything.
