Not like the books

We all know films / tv shows are never like the books.

But are there tv / films that are not like the books .

For me its the books the tv show true *** is based on.

 

Season 1 is close to the 1st book but after that I realy dont think the other seasons are anything like the books.

I read the books 1st and then watched the tv show.

I treated them as 2 seprate things

What book would you like to be seen turned into a tv show of film.

 

Im rather looking forward to the harry potter books being turned into the serires. I love the films but so much was cut out. I realy wish they had ***ves in it . There were sceenes with him in the films but they cut them out

Channel 4 did a series called Gormenghast and that was exactly and precisely like the books…don’t know many/any others that are as precise tho

I have read the sookie stackhouse series multiple times. I agree that first season was fairly solid. 😅 I do really enjoy the Ruby Dixon books, but you know they would get wild with that. I have heard good thinks about the black dagger brotherhood series. It’s on passionflix though.

I thought the movie Arrival was way better than the short story it’s based on, Stories of Your Life by Ted Chiang. Rare that the movie is better than the book for me

That are not like the books? The Wheel of Time show. Im sure its a decent show, but as an adaptation…. Wow did they miss the mark.

Tru *** was so different from the books it's impossible to see them as the same story for me. I like that they changed Tara and added in Lafayette because he was my favorite and Pam, also, loved her in the show. I didn't like how they changed Jason's story so much. I didn't like how they took out the bad things Bill did and all of the good things Eric did. Eric was my favorite in the books and they did him dirty. All those times when Bill was there to save her and in the books it was always Eric

Yes I agree. I basicaly saw them as 2 diffrent things. I understand that some of the things in the books could not be in the films unless yhey had an extreamly big budget.

 

There still my comfort books though. I will re read them when I need to get lost in a world thats not my life

I was obsessed with vampire books for a while. I also really loved the Vampire Academy books and the spin-off series. It's nothing like the movie. The movie was terrible. But Peacock made a show series version that is a lot closer to the books even though they still changed a lot to try and make the characters more diverse. Also, anything by Amelia Atwater Rhodes. I started reading her vamp books and then fell in love with her shapeshifter series. Hawksong is one of my comfort rereads. Unfortunately it'll probably never be turned into anything because it would require a lot of CGI
