It's not something I've actually done - but - this is something I see a lot of people want to rush into.

Ideally, first, having a good level of experience doing rope work for ground ties (whether as a rigger or bunny) is important

What he said ^^ very important. I've done many suspensions with riggers as well as self tied but I took classes from professionals in private & at rope cons first. I encourage learning nerve anatomy as well!
