simply put - the profile pictures have to be "safe for work" so, generally, avoid nudity, sexually suggestive photos and sex toys

Also, profile pics cannot include other people---no group shots or partners that are non-members.  Only yourself.  Plus, for some reason, text is not allowed in images.

When you go to the "Upload Photos" page, there is a list of rules at the bottom.  Once pix are uploaded, it takes about 24 hours for them to be approved, and appear in your profile.

the text on pics I kinda know - that - there were folk using it to embed contact details : email, phone numbers, websites, cashapp, so on

Of course to a slight degree there could be a case of monitoring on a case-to-case basis but in a lot of cases it makes little logical sense to have text on photos, when there is a 'caption' option.

Do you know what the go is for non profile pics? The guidelines say BDSM-related and nudity (incl. nipples) is forbidden but I've seen so many posts on here that go against that... Also thanks for the info 😊

Unfortunately, the "caption" is in fine print, up in the corner, in the "comments" section.  It is easily overlooked.  The caption frame needs to be more prominent, and closer to the photo, so that it actually appears to be a caption.  This may be why the caption option is rarely used.
