1. Actirasty - when the sun turns you on

This is an erotic attraction to the sun. Those individuals who experience this fetish not only enjoy being naked in sunlight but also find that sunlight on their skin gives them a sexual sensation. For some individuals, it may even lead to orgasm. This fetish is probably not that common in the United Kingdom, where frequent rain means that those with Acitrasty as a fetish would have to make do with sun lamps. The fetish can result in people being arrested for their naturist behaviour in public places.
 

2. Chasmophilia

Another one in our list of strange fetishes is arousal to caves. Some chasmophiles are even turned on by valleys and indentations in the landscape. Although a cave may look like an orifice, the chasmophile would need a sexual organ of geological proportions to make the most of the Grand Canyon, for example. Naturally, people with this fetish enjoy hobbies such as caving and hiking to find new caves and crevices to look at and enjoy.

3. Frotteurism - one of the more common strange fetishes

The fetish of gaining arousal to rubbing up against an individual is not uncommon. It's popular in Japan, where the tight packing of subway trains means that there is every opportunity for rubbing. This fetish has even produced a whole sub-culture in Japan devoted to this activity. Japanese transport police have an entire unit involved in stopping people with this fetish from practising it on public transport. However, some Japanese prostitutes offer a service where, for a fee, a client can ‘grope’ them in a fake train carriage.
 

4. Katoptronophilia

Katoptronophilia is a fetish where people get off by having sex in front of mirrors. This, like frotteurism, is not that uncommon, but it can get to the stage where sufferers find it impossible to achieve orgasm unless they are in front of a mirror. The preponderance of this fetish may explain why mirrors are such a common bedroom item.
 

5. Knismolagnia

Involves being tickled to achieve sexual pleasure. The exponents of this fetish believe that the whole body is an erogenous zone and that tickling, even of the feet, can lead to a powerful climax. There is a tickling subculture making videos of people receiving ‘tickle torture’', and is becoming a more mainstream fetish.
 

6. Nasolingus - a nosejob, anyone? 

Means arousal achieved by sucking on a person’s nose. This may seem quite an unsanitary type of fetish, but the famous psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud was trained by an analyst who considered that the nose was a site of sexual tension. However, the nose is not usually considered to be erotic by Freud.
 

7. Nebulophili

Weirdly, this is sexual arousal to fog! Despite its use in 1980s pop videos to give a sultry and sexual atmosphere, there is very little sexy that the average person finds about fog. The big advantage of this fetish is that no one can see what you are doing while you are getting off on when in the fog. This is a very uncommon fetish, with only a handful of exponents.
 

8. Objectophilia

Objectophilia is sexual arousal caused by an inanimate object. After this brief explanation, you wouldn't expect it on our list of strange fetishes, but it gets better: people who have this fetish have been known to fall in love with buildings and monuments. One woman even married the Eiffel Tower, as she believed that she was in love with this object. The marriage was not technically legal in French law. Her name was Erika Eiffel.
 

9. Partialism

This is a very particular fetish which involves becoming stimulated by an unusual, but specific, part of the body. For example, the ankles, wrist or the knee, are parts of the body which are frequently mentioned in conjunction with this fetish. The foot fetish, of course, a common item of fetishism, making this a fetish that many of us can identify with.
 

10. Psellismophilia

Sexual arousal caused by stuttering. This is a particular fetish which involves individuals seeking out people who are afflicted by this. It must be tough for the Psellismophile to have a quick conversation about sex with the object of their desire.
 

11. Pubephilia - for lovers of the bush

This one is sexual excitement from pubic hair. Even though this seems to be a well-established fetish, people who have this fetish are only attracted to pubic hair and not the genitals. The pubic hair fetish involves fantasies about people who have pubic hair that grows to the ground! Some individuals even pay for pubic hair to be sent to them through the post.
 

12. Pygophilia

Arousal to the buttocks. As above, this would seem to be a common fetish, and the buttocks are an erogenous zone. However, the sole object of affection is only the buttocks, which mean finding a partner who goes along with this fetish is very difficult. Gym pants are a godsend for exponents of this particular fetish.
 

13. Savantophilia

Fetishists would find Dustin Hoffman’s character in Rain Man to be a fantasy pin-up as they are attracted to people who have some form of cognitive impairment or difficulty. This is one of the top strange fetishes.
 

14. Stygiophilia

If you're a keen nasophile than you may also wish to develop this particular fetish, as it involves arousal from the thought of going to hell, which you are probably going to do for sucking on stranger’s noses. People with this fetish are turned on by the idea of fire, brimstone and demons. This is, unsurprisingly, a common fetish in sects and cults.

Those people who have this fetish should get on well with those who identify with Knismolagnia (a fetish for being tickled) as they have a fetish for tickling others. This is truly a match made in heaven.
