SF Citadel has been a much-loved fixture of San Francisco's vibrant kink community since 2003. This popular, well-equipped dungeon boasts 7,000 square feet in which to fortify your BDSM desires.

The business initially came about from a 1993 open play party called Fandango. This was held three times a year, but at this time, San Francisco's dungeons had closed, meaning there was a need to find a permanent venue in which to hold this extravaganza. A community dungeon was soon born.

The original SF Citadel was opened back in 2003 and has since then been based at three different locations in San Francisco.

The mission of SF Citadel has always been to empower the local BDSM community, providing a safe, sane, and always invigorating space in which all kinksters can socialise, play and learn about BDSM practices.

Recognising that many people think of dungeons as dark and frightening places, SF Citadel aims to put first-time visitors at their ease. This is a friendly place in which you can meet likeminded kinksters in a non-judgemental environment.

The current SF Citadel is at 181 Eddy Street, and it's open to everyone leading a BDSM lifestyle, regardless of gender, sexuality, or age.

The building was once used as a dance club, meaning that it's very spacious and accessible. The dungeon, which has all the BDSM equipment one would expect, is made up of three spaces: a locker area, a kitchen, and then the main dungeon.

Additionally, there's a lounge where you can get to know fellow visitors and several secondary rooms. These, like the main space, are available for rent - and make ideal film locations.

Sex is permitted, though the website makes it clear that this is a kink club, not a sex club - and sex does not form the majority of what happens at SF Citadel.
