Almost every website and book has a slightly different description of what hypnosis is and whether it’s safe and works. Even medical opinions vs spiritual ones vary widely. So what is erotic hypnosis play as a fetish? Is it safe, sane, and consensual, asks writer Sienna Saint-Cyr.

So what is erotic hypnosis?

For me, hypnoplay (aka hypnosis play) is about putting someone in an altered state of consciousness for reasons involving BDSM. Because hypnosis is great for relaxation as well, it helps quiet the voices in our heads and dropping our inhibitions and judgments. This, in turn, opens us to a deeper level of submission and sensation.

Erotic hypnosis is perfect for causing fifteen-minute orgasms, for mind-fuckery, re-contextualizing trauma, humiliation, and so on. From my personal experience, hypnoplay is the same as subspace. So if my Dominant tells me to feel his cock in all my holes at once, I feel him in all holes at once!

Is hypnoplay safe, sane, and consensual?

I’m going to go out of order here because I really want, to begin with, the consensual portion. According to WebMD, you cannot be hypnotised unwillingly. This means that it isn't possible to force hypnosis on someone. It has to be consensual, or it’s not feasible, though negotiating still needs to take place beforehand.

Is it erotic hypnosis sane? This is a matter of opinion, but so are most of the BDSM practices I run into. Many medical professionals use hypnosis to relax patients and treat ailments. The Mayo Clinic says that hypnosis can be used to change undesired behaviours. This fits Dominant and submissive relationships that involve training and behaviour modification. The fact that medical professionals use it makes it sane to me.

But is erotic hypnosis safe? To be sure, I asked my therapist. She went through the usual questions of consent and communication around boundaries, then asked if my Dom was being responsible. She explained variables, stages of consciousness, and how we have to be careful about what we ‘suggest’ to people when they are in that state.

While I don’t feel erotic hypnosis is unsafe, I do agree we have to be careful. When we have someone in this altered state, we can cause just as much harm as good. Vigilance is vital. The deeper we take someone, the more susceptible they are to suggestions. If the person hypnotising isn’t that experienced yet, I suggest good communication about what to do if something goes wrong. Having a backup plan (or two) goes a long way for building trust, which makes a vast difference in the effectiveness of erotic hypnosis.

Erotic hypnosis requires aftercare like any fetish.

Aftercare in erotic hypnoplay

Like with any other kinky fetish, there is always a need for aftercare. The person doing the hypnosis needs to be sure their subject has come back up and returned to normal headspace. If this doesn’t happen, it’s like sending a confused, drunk person out to drive a car. You must take care of your submissive or subject until they are safely returned to normal.

Erotic hypnosis is a fantastic way to expand your kinky experience. It makes way for deeper and more fulfilling experiences. Just remember, trust and care are necessary. So read books, watch others in action, and plan plan plan! Submission this intense is worth the effort!

I reccomend that people do erotic hypnosis with a trained professional, someone that has experience with erotic hypnosis.
My friend is a professional hypnotist, and I trust him, he has used erotic hypnosis on me and I am susceptible to hypnosis because all hypnosis is self hypnosis.
People need to be aware that not everyone involved with erotic hyonosis is a good person or trustworthy.
I'm grateful for my friend because he warned me about some creepy pervert on youtube that uses erotic hypnosis against women on purpose, to make them a sex slave, implant suggestions in their mind and make them do things they don't remember doing.
So please avoid the youtuber Nimja and his subliminals/erotic hypnosis. his intentions are for a rapey kind of purpose, to exploit women with erotic hypnosis on purpose.
Just want people to do it safely, to be safe online or in-person.
Erotic hypnosis with someone I trust is fun, pleasurable and enjoyable, just be more discerning of the intentions people have towards you.
