UK Porn Ban | Here's What You Need to Know

With the UK porn law changing, specific sexual acts are no longer permitted in UK-produced porno films. With the banned list including verbal abuse, piss play, humiliation and fisting, how will this affect UK-made porn? We explain just what you need to know and what you'll no longer be able to see due to the UK porn ban.

The banning of many fetish-related sex acts in UK porn has caused a loud response from adult industry workers and consumers alike. While the amendment's specifications put porn producers in the hot seat, its effects will surely be felt on the viewer level, particularly for those with kinkier tastes. Here's what you need to know about watching and buying porn in the UK under recent regulations.

The following acts are now considered illegal in UK-made porn (both video-on-demand and store-bought):

UK Porn Ban: facesitting

It's exactly as it sounds. This act consists of applying pressure to someone's face using their genitals or backside. Varying levels of force can be used, from grazing to smothering. Typically, facesitting is a means of forced oral to genital contact.  

No more female ejaculation

Specifically, by means of squirting or female ejaculation. Ejaculation implies that bodily fluid is emitted upon orgasm; while vaginal mucus is a bodily fluid, the act of its gradual release luckily doesn't constitute ejaculation. This means that less volcanic female orgasm in porn is still legal.

Impact play no more

With or without implements, striking another adult in porn is now considered too violent for viewers. The precise practices listed are spanking, caning, and whipping, but the amendment's terms presumably extend to other established modes of impact such as flogging and slapping.

UK Porn Ban: irregular penetration

Meaning, penetration with things that aren't cocks or dildos. The language used is somewhat vague, “associated with violence” is how the recently updated audiovisual media regulations describe things that don't belong inside of us. Are gerbils violent? I guess we'll find out. 

Verbal abuse no longer allowed

If you get off from hearing someone be called a slut, whore, bitch, etc., then you're out of luck. Even if it's consensual (which acts in porn are assumed to be), it's no longer allowed. Adult film writers have to start getting creative when it comes to dirty talk.

Banning piss play

Also known as golden showers or watersports, peeing on and being peed on by someone is now blacklisted in UK porn. Commonly, golden showers are used as a form of humiliation from dominant to submissive, particularly in the context of female domination.

Ageplay no way

Think student and professor or naughty little girl and grown-up caretaker. Common role-play scenarios such as these that involve one or more parties pretending to be “non-adult” comprise age-play. Hopefully, porn stars have held onto their school-girl skirt receipts from Halloween.

Physical restraint of any kind

That means bondage, by any means be it rope, handcuffs, tape, ties, scarves, you name it: it's illegal. Technically, holding someone down, even minimally, during sex is considered physical restraint. So arms, wrists, and legs must be completely free from now on.

UK Porn Ban: humiliation

Be it verbal or situational, humiliating and being humiliated by someone is now a no-no. Humiliation plays a significant role in BDSM-centric porn, where the submissive is being berated or embarrassed by a Dominant. It also makes a regular appearance in age-play related porn.

Fisting is blacklisted

This pertains to both vaginal and anal fisting. In this practice, an entire hand is inserted into the given canal and then opened into a fist or fist-like position. The act stretches inner walls and creates stimulation unachievable by way of more traditional penetration.

Asphyxiation is banned

Or strangulation to the point just before unconsciousness (although it does not necessarily have to be taken so far). Right before passing out, a sensation of light-headedness can cause a high many seek to bring orgasm to the next level. This is especially common in D/s and M/s sex.

Where you can still find it

These sex acts have only been banned from UK-made porn, meaning, an English citizen can watch a spanking vid produced in California. They can't, however, purchase that video through a British vendor, even if it's based online.

The UK porn ban is effective immediately. Porn that defies these regulations and is already available online and in porn stores will no longer be so. We're not sure what officials plan do with it all, but some lucky person's going to have to watch it all before deeming the content illegal.
