With 1000s of new people signing up every day, alternativedatelink.com should be a wonderful place to find other kinksters but are the claims valid? In the spirit of serving our vision to be the most trusted BDSM and Fetish community, we asked Victoria Blisse (The Queen of Smut) to find out.

You could be forgiven for thinking www.alternativedatelink.com was a porn site from the provocative landing page. While not a bad thing, but it could be a little bit confusing. I wasn't sure exactly what I was signing up for.

Alternativedatelink.com doesn’t shout 'dating site', though. The website mentions chat and instant messaging, so it does seem like a way to connect with people into kinky stuff online.

The site is quite blocky once you sign up. The colour scheme is pale pink with red and grey accents. It doesn’t look BDSM to me. However, the page is packed full of porn adverts, so it’s a site all about sex. Not a place to log into when you’re anywhere that’s not 100% private well, not without an adblocker anyway!

Alternative Date Link Navigation and User Feel | Simple

Sign up is quick and easy, but the only gender choices are male, female or a couple. So, if you don’t identify as any of those you’re going to struggle from the start. Once you’ve signed up, you need to fill in your profile. There are loads of questions to answer, but none of them is very kinky, which seems a little bit of a waste of time.

I could browse Alternativedatelink.com straight away. I could use all the features from browsing members, emailing and instant messaging. It was easy to navigate around too.
 

Alternative Date Link Community Feel | Not a Community

There are no community features like forums or groups to join, so I could only communicate with others privately by the internal email system or IMing. Grand for one-on-one dating, but not so good if you want to chat with more than one person at once. If you’re polyamorous, this might make using alternativedatelink.com a challenge.  

Alternative Date Link has lots of male profiles, and most of them are submissive. Luckily there’s loads of Dommes, too. However, I found it hard to work out if their profiles were genuine. Many feature model-like photos. But there’s no indication to say if a person is a professional or not. Model shots for professional Dommes are to be expected, but otherwise, I find it a little suspect.

Be careful when contacting others and never give out personal details or send money to someone you’ve only interacted with via messages online.  

Is alternativedatelink.com Free? Sometimes

So everything at alternativedatelink.com was free for me. Well, everything but the ‘live sex’ link at the top bar.  The link takes you to a webcam site and is essentially an advert as you can only see some of the content for free, but most are pay-per-minute.  To access any of this, you need to put in your credit/debit card details.

Alternativedatelink.com is very similar to BDSM Date link and Fetish Date Link, both websites I’ve reviewed before. I remembered from them that I had a very different experience when signing up as a male. So, I created a new male profile and immediately I was prompted to upgrade which kept happening any time I tried to view profiles or send messages.

All a male profile can do is send Instant messages, but as there’s no way to read profiles, that approach is going to be pretty hit and miss!

A month’s standard sign up is $29.86, and it is cheaper to buy several months or a year upfront. However, I wouldn't be inclined to sign up for more than one month until I had interaction from people I was sure were real.

Alternativedatelink.com Final Thoughts | Real or Not?

I have reservations over the number of people using alternativedatelink.com. I’m not sure all the profiles are genuine, and I had no interaction with other users while on the site. I think that’s because anyone with a male profile can only use the IM feature.

It’s tough to use the site effectively without paying for full access – but even then, will any kinksters match up with your fetishes? It’s hard to tell!
