Are neurodivergents drawn more toward domination or submission?

Recommended Posts

in recent years there have been an increase in diagnosies for assorted forms of ND - largely down to increases in resource and understanding.  In itself it's caused a lot of people to question themselves. Which of course has an increase in referals - and an awful lot of people who have not been referred, some of which still might strongly suspect they are some shade of neurodivergent

The general estimation is 15-20% are neurodivergent and that can be under many different forms.  This can include dyslexia, ADHD, autism, dyspraxia, more - and combinations thereof.  This doesn't mean the other ~80% never share traits.

But there is a lot of science that seperates what is normal patterns of cognitive behaviour, and those which diverge from the norm - and honestly, those who diverge from the norm often do need extra support or treatment - not forgetting why you went into another room - but consistently forgetting. Not getting distracted when you're supposed to be working, but having difficult focusing for no obvious reason.

Ultimately to be neurodivergent it is outside of normal thresholds, often consistently, often in multiple areas.

I would think it’s higher than 20% but norm? Nobody is really normal, probably especially on this site 🤷‍♂️ the word normal can bother people, I would curb that wording but what makes you so passionate about this topic? What are you seeking out of this conversation? Are you hyper fixated on BDSM or are you hyper fixated on Neuro divergent topics? Did something about this site upset you?

I would also think it's higher than 20% - however it's certainly not 100% and the figures are based on both actual diagnosis and self-reported, so it also *may* be lower.

Like on normal - or rather - typical, we can go into any physical function - take *** pressure.  Normal is around 120/80.  If it is 140/90 this is considered high in which case action is needed - low is 90/60 - again, action needed.   So typical function is around the 120/80 but the acceptable tolerance is around that.   That's easier as there's a physical metrics, but same is true in neurodiversity.  Like the clue is in the "diversity" part of "neurodiversity" that the function is outside of deemed typical thresholds.

I guess to tie things round, you ask me to curb the use of the word "normal" - which you're correct on, so I've switched to typical.     And yeah this is response to the "everyone is on the spectrum" which they're absolute not.  And, ahem, perhaps hyperfixation is one of my traits...

Well what you’re saying is kind of sounding like you want autism to have a Multi-verse 🤷‍♂️ but I can respect you have different opinion. now I do tell my three Ch2$&@@en nbsp;that autistic people have superpowers so maybe it really is a multi-verse. You have a good one, I am going to move on from this conversation, thanks for explaining.
