24 icons were released.  The gold icons are part of 24 icons and were icons 11 & 12.  So if you have collected all 24 icons you have collected the golden icons and you will see the additional points for those gold icons reflected in your points tally.

It's not the spe ed of the collection that decides the winner.  Plus it's not all about collecting icons, you also improve your chances by giving them away and offering clues.
