I was under the impression that the penis is mostly erectile tissue, and that the muscle is attached to the pelvic floor.

No idea , but I have been in chastity for the majority of the last 20 years , for 7 years in the first cuckold relationship and 4 years in the second relationship it was almost permanently and mine shrank but went back to normal size
