Point of debate - Suspension

Any time the load is split between the hardpoint and the floor it is a partial.

Aye. Once the the ropes/harness are bearing weight it is a partial suspension.

But see, this is what gets me to suspend is to fully remove from the ground, meaning no contact. What is being spoken of here is, in fact, a partial lift. Lifting and suspension are definitively different

If they can be lifted off the floor and the rope is bearing the weight then yes, its a partial suspension.

Lifting is an action. Suspension is s state of being. So you are right about them being definitively different. When you are pulling on the rope, you would be lifting. When you stop pulling, you aren't lifting anymore, and whatever you were lifting is now either under tension or some form of being suspended.

But see that's what im referring to both legs being on the ground can't be called a partial suspension because nothing is suspended

Had that done with the meathook( has ball on end, not pointed) that was tied to rope, rope thrown over the rafters...so if I pulled my hands down the meathook would lift me up...was hot

As other people said, once the rope is under tension and supporting any part of the weight then its a partial suspension. The difference between a partial and a full is touching the ground.

I believe that once the rigging is steadily holding weight

Even if it's just one limb it's a partial. You can be laying down with one leg being tied up and it's still a partial.

It's my belief that the "partial suspension tie" is actually just a tension tie renamed to sound more sophisticated. Remember the whole point of the debate is weather partial suspension is actually real or is it really just a partial lift/tension tie
Sa****
Yeah, thats not what you asked to start the debate. By definition all suspension ties are tension ties, but not all tension ties are suspension. Example, tied to a chair. You would be under tension if the ropes are tight but not suspension.

In the safety world usually a suspended load would be anything 3ft. Off the ground or more. Some places have a stricter policy though. So touching the ground, in my book. Would be not suspended
