The Hitachi Magic Wand and Magic Wand Originals are classic vibrators. But what do you really know about  Magic Wand vibrators? And, more importantly, will they get that clit twitching?

The history of the Hitachi Magic Wand vibrator

The Hitachi Magic Wand was initially patented in 1968, with the genuine and innocent intention of making a powerful back massager. Who would have thought, right? Betty Dodson iconised it as a clitoral vibrator through her book Sex For One and with her classes on female masturbation. This gave the Magic Wand vibrator its status as a powerful sex toy and made it a household name for less innocent activities. The Hitachi Magic Wand became a symbol for the feminist, sex-positive movement of the 60s and 70s. In the early 00s, it had a bit of a revival after appearing in an episode of Sex And The City.

Japanese owned Hitachi has had a problematic relationship with their product being promoted as a sex toy. They briefly accepted it and even made chocolate likenesses of the product for Good Vibrations and their executive meetings in the 1990s. In the early 2000s, they became more concerned about its sexual applications, which led them to decide to stop production in 2013.  Hitachi was finally deterred by their US distributor who suggested they rebrand the product without the name Hitachi; thus, the Magic Wand Original was born.

Intense vibrations from the Hitachi Magic Wand

The popularity of magic wand vibrators like the Hitachi is due to their intense vibrations. Earlier vibrators were unable to replicate the intensity, and many people find it to be a reliable way to stimulate the entirety of the internal clitoris.

Many alternate versions of the Hitachi Magic Wand have appeared on the market. Some are legitimate products with better materials, more settings (the Magic Wand Original only has two settings, and neither are subtle), smaller sizes, and vibration patterns. Examples of this are the Maxi Wand, Doxy Wand, Lelo’s Smart Wand, the Shibari Wand, and many others.

There have been even more knockoffs made of inferior materials, and some of these allegedly also have fake electronics certifications. Buying sex toys online is not always the best idea, so be careful. Always buy from trusted sources: body safe and real electronics certifications are essential. Learn how to spot genuine products and fake products; there are a ton of resources online.

The Hitachi Magic Wand is great for kink too

The Hitachi Magic Wand and other magic wand vibrators have been popular for use in kink scenes as well, especially in scenes with forced orgasm, orgasm denial, and various bondage scenarios. The intense vibrations make it difficult to hold off orgasm, and therefore it is easy to use these kinds of products for multiple forms of pleasurable torture.

It is important to note that these kinds of vibrations are not for everyone—some people just don’t find broad, strong vibrations to be pleasurable. And that’s absolutely ok! Everyone is different and likes different things. The good news is that unlike most other sex toys, you can opt to only use your Hitachi magic wand for back massages instead if you don’t like it on your bits.

The Thunderstick is a good alternative. It is variable speed vice two speed on the Magic Wand. My submissive loves it. http://www.amazon.com/Great-Valentines-Day-Supercharged-Thunderstick/dp/B01B0TTERO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1455315897&sr=8-1&keywords=thunder+stick+massager
