I started playing chess960 a few months ago. It brought energy back to the game. There was also a 960 tournament recently, loved it

Check on BGG, during COVID a bunch of people created a fan made expansion that has 21 new teams.

Obviously not too great if you have nobody to play with. But they're great for freshening the game up.

My local scene at once stage had a once a week tabletop/boardgames/D&D meet up in the centre of the city as they found quite a few people on the periphery of the scene were in to this as part of their vanilla life as well.  Luckily part from a few spacious pub venues the city had or has two dedicated late opening shops that allow groups to set up games.  Iv'e seen once in a while ads on other sites advertising same type of events, just to sit down chill, have fun with no "we must always talk scene" stuff, in a more smaller group.

 

It's always worthwhile posting a message in groups or forums dedicated to your area, just to even get a little feedback to see if it's feasible to start one off.

I don't usually play board games as cats and a dog don't make good opponents... Unless eating the game pieces is a legal move. But if I do have someone to play, I usually pick monopoly. I also usually win. But I've taken to changing up the game similar to what they did when they made sexopoly, but more centered on my kink than just playful partners exploring.

i havent gotten into board gaming at all, tbh theres supposed to be a table top thats kinda like monster hunter crossed with *** and hunger that i was interested in trying but i dont remember what its called… Ive also wanted to join a D and D group for a while. Also alternatively, am down for Rogue Trader if anyone is into the 40K universe…

I used to play magic:the saddening, but due to the current state of Wizards of the Coast, I’m considering abandoning it, as its just Hasbro’s cash cow now

i think carcassonne is the monster hunter one (you utilize creatures you fell to create supplies to fell more & stronger creatures) Please lmk if im wrong, as my friend was pushing it on me over a year ago
